That Mint Podcast
Money. Mimosas. Mythbusting. That Mint Podcast is the brainchild of Cathi Harrison (Director of The Verve Group) and Jo Campbell (Director at Para-Sols). It is also an AWARD-WINNING podcast for the 'Best Podcast - New' at the Investment Marketing and Innovation Awards 2021. Fed up of answering the same questions to people who don’t know financial services (What is a paraplanner? Do I actually need a pension? What the hell does an adviser even do?) the pair decided to create something that could pop that finance bubble, and make it a little bit more accessible to all. Bringing their years of knowledge and experience in finance, and combining it with their northern no-nonsense approach, a dash of wit, and the odd splash of wine, Cathi and Jo are bringing a fresh approach to what is often considered quite a dull industry. Listening to this podcast will help answer some of your questions, show you that finance can actually be a little bit interesting, and provide you with the occasional chuckle. Give it a listen – you won’t regret it! (Unless you’re not a fan of puns – then you’ll definitely regret it).
Episode 32 - That Mint Finale
It’s a sad day. The most riotous, educational and ridiculous financial podcast is coming to an end, and we’re seeing it off with a bang (of corks popping)! You can listen in as Cathi and Jo reminisce about their favourite moments from the past three years and realise that the verbal Will that Jo made in a past episode still remains as her only legal wishes on record…  See the look of surprise on Marks (big boss producer) face as he is interviewed on camera about what he has learnt from three years of doing the podcast and discover why he wants a Viking funeral. And we end, as always with an exciting entry in the Quid Game hall of fame – this time titled “Out of Context Jo”, where we learn the important advice: don’t stick a frozen potato up your bum and why Cathi would make the best Chancellor of the Exchequer.

Listen to find out. There is also a lovely chat with Emilie Bellet, founder of Vestpod - a thriving community with a mission to help people, and in particular women, achieve financial independence.  So, listen in to find out whether Cathi and Jo make it back to the office after their walk to the unknown and see if Nat can find them after their random series of directions. Episode 30 - The inevitability of death (and taxes)
In this episode, Cathi and Jo consider if “middler” age is a thing, if people in the 35-45 age group really have their lives together (or is it all fake for social media posts?) and what they will be doing when they are 65. When Jo was 23, she thought her 60s would be all fish and chips and bus passes (books and libraries with added wine is the plan now) and Cathi has always looked forward to being an embarrassing elderly woman wandering around in heels with a martini in hand. It’s all about growing old disgracefully, but with a sound financial foundation! Just remember that if you want to see someone, you have to use your eyes…In a brilliant interview with our guest Phil Zeidler from life insurance provider, DeadHappy, we take a turn into ‘The Venn Diagram of Tabooness’ (thanks Jo) – namely death and money.  It’s a hard subject to talk about, but DeadHappy has turned insurance on its head by talking about ‘Death Wishes’ instead of insuring a life, making the concept simple, tangible and straightforward. Who doesn’t want to have a bronze statue of themselves in the front garden after they die?

Episode 29 - Tech a chance on me
We’re talking all things tech in this edition of the podcast – particularly how ubiquitous tech has become in our daily lives. Cathi and Jo (referred to collectively as the Benjamin Buttons of finance) have a look at the explosion of finance apps and how they have changed consumer behaviours, for example using Klarna for a banana (or is it a bunch, Cathi?) or using a Freetrade account app to invest directly into companies. Does this mean more gamification of financial responsibility and is it worrying that Jo hasn’t seen her bank card for months? Listen in to find out.
