One of my all-time favorite podcasts. The hosts truly sparkle and obviously love each other which is such a joy. That Book helps me keep a line of connection to the literary world (high brow and low brow and everything in between) when I don’t have the time and/or bandwidth to do a lot of my own reading. When I am looking for a book recommendation, I always consult That Book as Michael’s taste is SPOT ON. He is a glorious curator. Essentially, I want to be at a dinner party with these two every night of the week. Their brilliance is humbling and yet they always leave me feeling smarter, not just intimidated. Thrilled to hear the podcast is dormant and not over. I wait on the edge of my seat.

Your insight and enthusiasm are both wonderful! I happened upon this searching Eve Babitz after reading an article in September, 2022 Vanity Fair. You lost me with your obvious distaste if not complete aversion to Babitz’s support of The Donald. Can’t stand him nor the mention of him. Babitz ship quit sailing many years ago. You wasted precious minutes on this late in life, pretty inconsequential to her body of work and fame sharing your distaste of her support of Trump.

This podcast is so fun and enjoyable. I started with the Meryl Streep episodes and am completely hooked. The two hosts have such a fun banter. It feels getting together with old friends.

I love this podcast and look forward to it every week! I laugh out loud listening to Michael and Hannah, but they aren’t just funny, they are smart, too! As a book lover, I appreciate their takes on what they read.

New listener here. Not a frequent reviewer but I feel compelled to say- this is hands-down my new favorite pod. Hannah and Michael have dynamite chemistry and a deeply likable, articulate (but accessible) rapport - all punctuated with tasteful (and occasionally TASTY) humor. Based on the incredibly strong start to their third season, I’ll be working my way through their catalog and eagerly anticipating the next installment. Suffice to say my succulent pulling membranes are fully engorged, anticipating the next delectable (aural) morsel...

This podcast is wonderful! The joy and chemistry between the hosts is palpable and you’ll be laughing along with them even if you haven’t read or even heard of the books. Come for the hot takes and leave with a smile and some new knowledge. Totally worth the listen and can’t wait for season 4.

Although just reading a novel is great I would strongly recommend they do further research into a novel. Many assumptions are made that could easily not have been made had they done the slightest bit of research; however, this sadly is not the case. It also appears there is a large ‘woke’ and social justice angle that the hosts are vying for, which largely reduces the quality of the podcast. They seem to expect authors to be making their written works in a manner that follows what they themselves want, not what a general audience is looking for. It’s rather narcissistic how they reflect on how they take offense to some book’s plots only for themselves personally rather than a broader audience.

This is delightful! Hannah and Michael are super interesting and charming and clearly have a lot of fun talking to each other, which is my favourite thing in a podcast. Plus, they choose great books/topics!

I have to say that even though I often haven’t read the book the hosts cover, I still find myself in stitches listening to That Book. Michael and Hannah are likable as all get out and their chemistry can’t be beat. Super excited for Season 3!

Like listening to your funniest, smartest friends dig into the books that are somehow everywhere but that you (I) never read. Hilarious and great tempo.
