333. Ruth Palmer - Feel the fear and do it anyway
Ruth Palmer was scared to death about coming on this podcast. But she did it anyway. And that just about sums up Ruth Palmer. Born in Adelaide, Ruth was 15 when her parents decided to move to Port Hedland in Western Australia where he father took up another position as a train driver. Ruth refused to go and instead behind and moved in with her boyfriend. The relationship was not a good one for Ruth. She eventually moved to Port Hedland and ended up in another bad relationship before moving to Melbourne where she finally had a chance to grow.  Ruth didn't like the cold and moved up to Brisbane where she started a career in the recruitment industry. She then moved to Darwin and Lajamanu and  married a police officer. Her father's background in the CFMEU made her an ideal candidate for the Labor Party and she joined the Government in communications and even after Labor lost the election 2012, she was one of handful to be offered a position with the government now in opposition. For the past seven and half years Ruth has been Executive Director of the Property Council of Australia. Despite a serious case of imposter syndrome, Ruth has overcome her fears and doubts and is now one of the most influential women in the Northern Territory.  This is Ruth Palmer's Territory Story.
