Very entertaining
White saviors interview guests that promote victim hood and criticize the idea of white saviors. It’s interesting to hear the host quietly agree with anything the guests say and rarely add substance to the conversation. Sad. Listeners get a badge they can use to virtue signal on their preferred social media!

Overthinking 20th century American literature
Lots of handwringing by white teachers. Middle schoolers of all races and backgrounds are smarter and more resilient than these teachers give them credit. They’re not fragile. If you teach the students about the historical contexts in pre-teaching and reinforce the learning alongside the book discussions, the To Kill A Mockingbird novel should be a teachable moment and you can examine it critically. Students today have heard hip hop lyrics most likely, they have heard the N-word before in that awful context. If To Kill a Mockingbird is so terrible for middle school English, teach it at the high school level only. Stop apologizing for the past which cannot be changed but only corrected and must not be forgotten lest we continually repeat these sins over and over. Teens must learn US history in all of its flawed contexts or we are finished culturally as a diverse nation. Equality and justice are important values. These teachers are not very creative if they cannot communicate good values and social-emotional learning into their curriculum.

Everyone can learn from this
I had heard about this podcast from teachers I know. I spent my career as a teacher and have since retired. I still learned good skills to use in board meetings, volunteer work and my own personal life. I firmly believe that life is a classroom and that we are all both students and teachers. Everyone can gain skills from this podcast. Thank you for the encouragement to keep moving forward on this path. This should be required listening and White Fragility should be required reading for all of us.

Level the Reading Field
Eye opening and informational for all teachers. Challenging the Canon proves how imperative it is to equalize our educational system. Definitely need to rethink texts used in our classrooms. Who is represented? Who is missing? Every child deserves a voice and a mirror.

To the listeners
Dear regular folk, The people in this podcast will always be an employee. They believe the world of entrepreneurship and business cares about how you feel where you come from. “I have never even been a manager” she says lol. If you have the mindset that you are a victim then you will be a victim! Don’t listen to them unless they are teaching you math.

Every teacher in America should listen
Are you a white educator? This podcast is for you. I am so impressed with the content of this Teaching While White. I learn something new about what it means to be white, specifically a white educator in America, every single episode. I find myself sharing what I’m learning with everyone I speak to and I’ve recommending it to many people so far. The episodes keep you interested and wanting to learn more. I teach very young children in a predominately white suburb and I hope that more episodes will be geared toward that scenario specifically. Thank you!

Such a helpful resource!
I’m so glad I found this podcast. I have been trying to educate myself on how to create a more culturally respectful and responsive classroom. This podcast offers so many insights and raises important questions to consider. I really enjoy the engaging way the interviews, stories and relevant facts are presented. The podcast is professional, but never sterile. The style reminds me of “This American Life...” The voices of the host and guests are very authentic and vulnerable, even when they are speaking from a place of authority and experience. I’ll be listening to every episode. I have much to learn.

Time to do the work
I am so happy I found this resource. Their guests are fantastic and their willingness to admit fault in their own classrooms is really helpful. I hope there are more episodes coming because I have so much to learn. Thank you for shining a light on the white teacher’s responsibility.

So good!
I hadn’t heard of this until a friend mentioned it. I didn’t really know what to expect but have been blown away by the high-quality interviews and the thought-provoking conversations. So thankful to have this as a podcast & to be able to share it with other teachers.

Long overdue
I am late to this podcast, but I love it because it is accessible to any white educator who actually wants to be an anti racist educator and is willing to do the work. Thank you!

Insane!!
Only the left sees things as black or white. The rest of us just see people!!! No one cares what your skin color is. You are at school to learn and it is the individuals responsibility if they don’t. Maybe if white liberals stopped talking to minorities like they are there to save the poor minorities we could move passed this. I don’t know a single person who says omg that person is x race they are bad. Everyone does judge you based on you behavior.

Captivating!
I am an African African educator in Stockton, CA where close to 80% of the teachers are white. I currently teach 8th grade Math and English Language Arts. The student population consists mostly of Latino, Southeast Asian, and African American students. Having the conversation about whiteness, how white privilege and the advantages that are attached to that privilege, is imperative to challenge the gaps in the education system and other systems of oppression. The conversation is uncomfortable but necessary if change is the the expected outcome.

Cultural Marxism K-12
80% of grade school teachers are white. 87% of students are not black. White teachers should not have to “blackify” the classroom, in hopes the 13% can learn. Leftist nonsense. Teach them to read, write and speak properly English, to add, multiple and divide. Civics. Real history. Leftist indoctrination of victim ideologies is child abuse.

Excellent material
This is an excellent resource to begin thinking about how being white matters as a teacher. Along with the website it is a must listen for all white teachers.

Not just for teachers!
As a white parent involved in school equity work, I can't recommend this podcast more highly. Very well-edited and always thought-provoking. My only complaint is that they don't do episodes often enough!

Fantastic!
This podcast has been nothing but eye-opening and helpful to me. The theoretical lens they offer helps me see myself and my community college more clearly and the practical resources, humble examples, and steps offered help me understand my own role and responsibility and what actions to take next. That’s a powerful combo!

Change the Classroom, Change the World
I am a K-12 Instructional Coach, and passionate about culturally responsive teaching and learning, and multicultural and social justice education. This podcast is such an amazing resource as educators seek to create and sustain truly honest, empowering, considerate, and respectful learning environments for students and themselves, thereby helping to create and sustain a society that genuinely mirrors these same qualities.
