I don't need heaven if I have Jesus (Ep. 224)
Welcome back T&J fam! This week we dive in with a discussion on moments that make you feel better than everyone else. And yes, we know that this is not a good thing. However, I suspect you have an answer, so send your them to the address below! We then discuss meeting celebrities and Marty's very overthought approach to famous people. Josh then transitions us to a discussion on death via the Sopranos. We discuss what happens at death and our struggles to image something so unimaginable. We then transition to the spiritual reality of being sufficient in Christ and how our belief should be in Christ, not in chasing heaven. Enjoy! [email protected]

Self-Esteem is the Symptom, Not the Problem (Ep. 223)
Welcome back T&J fam! We are back from vacation and ready to dive into a lot of topics. Marty shares about his wife's zoomies and how this led to a less than enjoyable night with a weighted blanket. Josh then dives into a discussion on self-esteem and what that really means. We discuss what forms the view of ourselves and how a secure view in Christ should eliminate this need. We acknowledge how this can be hard and how we have seen it play out in our own lives. Lastly, we touch on some practical ways to address self-esteem and work towards health if this is an area of struggle. Feel free to send us your thoughts or questions to the address below. Orchestration and Redemption: God's Role in the Bad Things of Life (Ep. 222)
Welcome back T&J fam! This week we come ready with a Dirty Brew Coffee Review. Josh brought in some whole bean coffee from a local ministry - Fresh Start Coffee Works. It proves to be an excellent daily drinker that delivers a solid 6.2 on the completely made up T&J coffee scale. Josh also introduces us to a new game that will prove to be very addictive if you allow. We then transition into a discussion on medical emergencies at church and the bad things that happen in life. In response to a listener question, we discuss the age old debate or "why do bad things happen" and what is God's role in these things. We try to define what "bad" is and discuss our views of God and His level of intervention with creation. We then circle back around and try to explain our answer to this difficult question. Feel free to send us your thoughts and opinions to the address below. [email protected]

A Brotherly Love Podcast Takeover w/ Zane Moyer (Ep. 221)
Welcome back T&J fam! This week we have a podcast takeover. Our friend, Zane Moyer, joins the show and hijacks the mic. He brings us a Dirty Brew Review with some coffee straight from Philadelphia. We talk with Zane about being from Philly, his work with different NFL teams, and how this led to where he is today. Zane then takes over and brings his own questions to the show. We discuss theology, handling theological disagreements, the importance of love, and several other questions. As always, we welcome questions and messages from anyone who wants us to to discuss their views and possibly make a guest appearance. Enjoy!

Women in Leadership: A Title Only Baptists Care About (Ep. 220)
Welcome back T&J fam! We are sorry we missed last week but are gonna try to make up for it with this episode. To start out, we have a Dirty Brew Review for you. We try some coffee that was gifted to us by a loyal fan. This proves to be a delightful drink that makes you rethink what coffee should taste like. We then discuss whether hotdogs are a sandwich and somehow transition this into the topic of women in leadership. Following the recent SBC vote, we thought it was time for us to finally address this topic head on. We discuss our preconceived beliefs on the topic, upbringings, and theological views that inform the discussion. Ultimately, we are far more alike than we are different on this topic and expect some passionate feedback. Feel free to send us your thoughts to the address below. [email protected]

Laziness Isn't Real (Ep. 219)
Welcome back T&J family! On this week's episode, Marty discusses his recent adventure and the long drive back from Arkansas. We then discuss the longest drives we have ever taken and would love to hear the longest you have ever driven in a day. This leads to a winding discussion that ends up on the idea of laziness. Josh proposes that laziness is not real, but is a reflection of value. We dive into this idea and discuss how everyone can be motivated but not always by the same goals or stimuli. We break down how we can use this to learn more about ourselves and to increase motivation towards goals or tasks we have traditionally avoided or failed to accomplish. Enjoy! [email protected]

Becoming an Iceman: How Narrative and Pressure Shape Us (Ep. 218)
Welcome back T&J fam! We launch into this week with a discussion on uncomfortable experiences - like having an eyelash in your eye during a counseling session. We would love to know what makes getting through your job hard as well. Josh then discusses the new Iceman album by Drake and the behind the scenes drama that is shaping societies perception of Drake and the release of three albums on the same night. This turns into a conversation about societal narratives and how pressure impacts us. We discuss how stress or pressure will either make us or break up, but is something we tend to avoid. Enjoy! Are you pursuing God or just running from Satan? (Ep. 217)
Welcome back T&J fam! This week start on a slowly and more somber note. Marty has not had the best week and it becomes Josh's responsibility to lift the spirits. We fail in that attempt and just talk about shoes for a while. Then, Josh sees if Marty can list the 10 Commandments and questions what there purpose is in scripture. This leads to a discussion on conviction, guilt, and shame and what factors into people changing. We discuss repentance and how we should be turning towards God, but sometimes are just pursuing God because we are actually trying to avoid Hell and Satan. Feel free to drop us your thoughts to the address below. Enjoy! [email protected]

We then shift to a conversation on compassion and how it can be used to control people. We unpack on compassion aligns us with people, which places us in a position of influence. Food Poisoning, Hallucinations, and Redeeming Our Hidden Parts (Ep. 215)
Welcome back T&J fam! This week we dive into a nice little recap of Marty's experience with food poisoning (or whatever demon possessed his body) and the hallucinations that ensued. Josh then opens up about hallucinations he had on third shift and what happens whey you accidentally take large amounts of muscle relaxers. This discussion turns into a conversation about one of psychology's forefathers - Carl Jung. Josh discusses Jung's theory and the different parts of who we are as people. We discuss the public facing views of self and the parts we try to hide. We also discuss how this integrates into our faith and how we operate as Christians. Enjoy! [email protected]
