If you are not growing then you are dying. It is absolutely important to constantly keep reinventing yourself learning new things acquiring new skills since the world is changing fast. So since learning is important for growth this episode talks about 5 essential pillars of learning.
a) Books - Reading books, magazines, journals are important because it presents us with a perspective of the author who have research well on a particular subject. You may be in a certain profession where it is important to read industrial reports, journals etc. and indeed you should read more about the areas of your work as it helps you to be updated with the latest trends and practices in your industry, But having said that it is not necessary that you have to only read on the areas of your work but you can also read and should read books on the areas of your interest. I have to say that - People like when you share your learnings with other people. In a way it shows you to be an open person who is not gripped with any sense of insecurity because if you feel insecure then you would not be willing to share your knowledge, understanding and wisdom with others.
b) Travel - Men or travellers who has travelled was considered a wise men. A learned man or a women always command more respect in the society. When you travel you just don't just enjoy the places but you also get a good glimpse of the country's culture, its people its food, clothing and their approach towards life. I have to say that nature can inspire you and you can learn so much when you are alone with nature.
c) Social interactions and observations - People are social being and want interactions. Humans interact, we listen to other people, listen to them, their prospective, their experiences, their stories and you will definitely get something to learn from them. Evolution of mankind has happened primarily due to social interactions and learning from nature. Observation is another great way of learning. Social learning is a primary form of learning.
d) Experience - This is one of the richest source of learning. The thing about experience is that either you have a good experience or a bad one. If you have a good one that is great but if you have a bad one then you can surely learn something from it and hopefully at the end improving yourself and becoming wiser. A person with experience can share so more learning to others including youngsters but the important thing is how much we are able to imbibe these learnings in our life.
e) Mistakes - One mistake is a great teacher, same mistake more than once is pure stupidity. Remember, if you commit a mistake don't be upset about it or angry, but instead learn from it and correct it in future.
So friends at the end, I would only say that learning is a continuous process and just as a great liquor company Johnnie Walker’s brand line is - Keep Walking, my suggestion to you all is - Keep Learning.
