If you've lived through trauma, you'll be able to relate to this episode. For so many who have dealt with trauma, there is a recurrence of the event that can take place which can alter the chemistry and health of your personal perspective and how you experience the world around you.
This episode reminds trauma survivors of the irrevocable power that remains within them, despite the heavy reality of any particular experience. But, What happens when we fail to use that power that is innate our own? What happens when we no longer believe in that power?
Let's examine how the power of choice is averted when we cling to old narratives, that no longer serve our present lives in a healthy way.
Too often we choose not to tame the dragon of what haunts minds and hearts, because we've grown fond of walking in Fear and reliving nightmares. With choice, active or inactively comes intention. Practicing choice, isn't an overnight switch, however the muscle of choice has to be strengthened as often as you learned to recite the nightmare you know word for word. Redirecting focus takes practice.
There's a quote I've grown quite fond of; author unknown: "Your trauma is not your fault, but your healing is your responsibility" -
Power and responsibility are expressed simultaneously and that awareness can cripple many. Let's not fear completely owning both, let's embrace it's experience fully and openly. These gifts however adverse or difficult at times, allow us the opportunity to learn, to inwardly evolve and most importantly to grow.
