Talking to Trine - about Sensitive Superpowers
Talking to Trine - about Sensitive Superpowers
Trine Lehmann Hansen
There are more Highly Sensitive People (HSP) than you might think - up to 20% of the world population fit the description. And yet some of the main characteristics are feeling different and alone. This podcast aims to change that! These are real conversations with real people - about what it means to be sensitive, and how we can take our sensitivity and turn it into a superpower. You are not alone, and it is my hope, that listening to the experience of others will bring you comfort and encouragement. The world needs all of us!
#30 Stepping up as Leaders
This final episode of season one beautifully sums up one of the main points of creating the podcast: That the world needs more sensitivity - and that we are the ones who can provide this and help create a friendlier future.  That of course requires us to step up, embrace our sensitivity and its superpowers - and dare to be who we are. Loud, proud, and visible. And that is what today's conversation with MarLisa Hollands is all about. MarLisa Hollands is a Life Designer activating your inner wise woman.  She is trained in Strategic Intervention by Tony Robbins & Cloe Madanes, she has a wealth of knowledge and life experience in parenting, masculine & feminine energy, blended families, healing attachment styles, receiving love, starting a business, healing your money relationship, accepting deep connection, and befriending yourself. MarLisa is a mother, step-mom, partner, adores dogs, fitness educator, wine sommelier, nature lover, and practices reiki and yoga. She believes, that generous souls will change the world and by supporting them, she supports the thousands of people they touch in their life. #29 Connection is Everything
This episode holds so much warmth and beauty - while talking about some very vulnerable areas. Today's guest is a Solution Oriented Hypnotherapist who also works in palliative care, and we talk about how her sensitive superpowers are such a wonderful gift to help people feel seen and held at what can easily be a very scary time. Louise is a 40-something living in the North of England with her small family and growing menagerie of rescue pets. She grew up worrying about environmental issues and would frequently get upset at certain tv shows or at the end of holidays but never identified as highly sensitive until a couple of years ago when everything began to make sense. She works as a Macmillan palliative care Occupational Therapist part-time where her empathetic skills are put to use and she finds great purpose in helping others. Having previously struggled with her mental health, she had a course of hypnotherapy after other treatments were unsuccessful. Having hypnotherapy was so life-changing that she went on to train as a Solution Focused Hypnotherapist and now runs Nurture Hypnotherapy and sees clients both online and in-person. Louise works with a Solution Focused Approach which means that there is no need to unpick the past. Instead, the focus is firmly on the future and the steps that can be taken to get there. She is currently holding a waitlist for her extra special 12-week package which guides HSPs to step into their superpowers which blends on-line hypnotherapy & coaching, as well as audio downloads and guided workbooks to create a transformative effect.  Website: nurture-hypnotherapy.co.uk Facebook: www.facebook.com/nurturehypno Instagram: www.instagram.com/nurture_hypnotherapy_ne --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/talking-to-trine/message

#28 True Human Beauty
This episode is near and dear to me because we talk about a topic I have felt particularly sensitive and vulnerable about. We are talking about fashion and beauty and visually expressing and embodying who we truly are.  And I have never met anyone who has made me feel as comfortable around these areas as Yifan does. She has a very contagious passion for and belief in our right to be beautiful JUST THE WAY WE ARE. It is so liberating to hear her talk so lovingly about how she helps female entrepreneurs express their truths and their power - how to be their brand!  Yifan Nairn is a fashion designer, Self-image & Style Coach to personal brand owners. Through the lens of personal style, body and self image, she helps gifted, often sensitive entrepreneurs who want to be more visible to shred the false, indoctrinated self perception and to fully accept who they are. So they can see and step into the empowered version of themselves inside AND outside and make the impact and income they truly desire. #26 Navigating Everyday Chaos
Everybody can get overwhelmed, and many people talk about burnout, but as today's guest says - when others feel overwhelmed, they take a break and feel better, but for a sensitive person, it can almost make us quit and go back to bed for 3 weeks.  In this episode, we talk about the importance of finding our core - that internal place where we reconnect to who we really are in a busy world that tends to pull our attention outwards. Karen Hewitt has some very practical tools and tips on how to achieve this centered state, even in a busy life.  And this episode is actually the perfect demonstration! You can hear her kids playing in the background, and even with the interruptions and distractions, we manage to have a perfectly enjoyable, lighthearted, and meaningful conversation! Karen is a certified Life and NLP coach as well as a successful, multifaceted entrepreneur. She shares her story and her gifts in an empathic and authentic way to help others. Discovering real-life gifts where introverts have the most power, Karen teaches her audience how powerful, creative and successful you can be as an introvert, a woman, and a busy mom juggling it all! Karen’s story takes her from almost losing her life to a man she thought was there to help her gain strength, leaving her with agoraphobia, PTSD, and anxiety where she became completely locked in her introverted world to becoming a true powerhouse in helping others stand true in their own gifts and strengths. As an empathic and compassionate speaker, she connects with introverted individuals that know that there is something more to what they are doing, but don’t know how they can impact or express themselves because of feeling shy, introverted, or even unworthy. #27 How We Connect With Our World
Sensitive people, including those on the spectrum, are connected to the world in unique and intriguing ways. We may see, hear, and sense things others might miss. We interpret in a much more detailed manner. Today's guest is Robert Gold who has gone from feeling isolated as a child for his sensitivity and special talents, to designing ways of better understanding our world. What was once experienced as a 'handicap' has become one of his most valued gifts. His passion is helping others appreciate who them are and what they have to offer, others. Robert Gold is a practicing Ontologist with forty years of experience. As a sensitive, empathic, and gifted child, he was often misunderstood. Among his talents-- repairing home appliances before he could read. To cope with a dismissive and hostile home environment, he figured out how to alter his schedule so he could be awake when everyone else was asleep. In elementary school, he taught himself to overcome undetected learning differences and sensory issues, including ADD and dyslexia. Fast forward, just four years ago, he discovered that he fit the neurodiverse profile, perfectly. The revelation has enhanced his work as a Communication Specialist and Trust Development Coach. He specializes in supporting children, teens, and adults stuck in thought patterns known as circular thinking. Clearing them from the mind allows one, at any age, to express wants and needs, effectively and productively. Robert also happens to be a visionary and an author. His latest work is a fascinating journey into the near future, where everyone is appreciated for who they are, no need for labels. Everyone has gifts designed to repair the world. This interactive series invites readers to explore everything, from thoughts and emotions to colors, scents and shapes and how they affect our lives. LIBERTY 2041 is a series co-authored by his wife, Carolyn Gold, a Sensory Strategist and Colour Connoisseur. #25 Sensitive Entrepreneurs
This episode is the 25th anniversary of the podcast, but it is also special because today's guest is the first HSP person I have interviewed who has always felt loved and appreciated for her sensitivity.  Mary Barringer only experienced small pockets of resistance to her sensitive nature when she was growing up, and this to me was such a revelation. And I hope this will become the way future generations of HSPs grow up - naturally understanding that, of course, it's a gift to be sensitive! Aside from this very important nugget, we also talk about what it's like to be sensitive beings on the entrepreneurial journey - and we both agree that if you love personal growth and development - you don't find any better training grounds than starting your own business!! =) Mary Barringer is a counselor for highly sensitive people (HSPs). Specifically, she helps sensitive souls learn how to get off the “struggle bus” (ie. stress/worry less), grow self-trust/confidence and create more space for joy/fun in their (our) lives. Her work experience includes high school teaching/counseling, mental health counseling and parish ministry. Mary’s passions include meditation/spirituality, connecting on a deep, soul-full level with other lovely humans & animals (especially kitty cats) and lifelong learning. She lives in beautiful San Diego, California (United States). #24 The Importance of Our Living Environment
Everyone deserves to live and work under nice conditions, but as sensitivities, we tend to be more affected by the subtleties in our surroundings. Today's guest is a Sensory Interior Designer who possesses synaesthesia. This neurological gift allows her to experience multiple results from a single sensory input. For example, she won't listen to classical music while driving because the images of costumes, architecture or period furnishings, that come to mind can be quite distracting. When seeing colors, they may come with flavors, scents or some other sensation, and so on. In Carolyn Gold's case, synaesthesia is not only pleasurable and manageable but it's become her Sensitive Superpower. Her specialty is making sure children and adults have balanced and healthy lives. The process includes careful listening and observing. The results invite relaxation and improved sleep. Greater focus during the day is always welcome when it comes to productive learning, working, eating, and even playing. Sensory savvy environments contain customized elements for each person's needs so they can feel nurtured, soothed, or stimulated, at the right time, in the right space. You can reach out to Carolyn on her website and make sure to fill out her fun mini sensory quiz: http://www.thegoldtouch.net --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/talking-to-trine/message

#23 The Power of Non-Judgment
As sensitives, we are typically all too familiar with the sense of being 'wrong', and how it feels to fail at living up to the expectations we think others have of us. From this experience, today's guest has developed the superpower of being really good at listening to people and validating them.  This is beautiful in all areas of life, but Aubrey Reinmiller has taken her magic power and used it in the field of physical fitness and well-being. I find that especially powerful since many of us have bad memories from gym classes in High Shcool which can make us reluctant to seek out a personal trainer.  In this episode, we talk about the stories we tell ourselves - about not being 'exercisers'. But also about being lazy and frivolous when we take time out to sit and enjoy our tea or set up a self-caring evening routine. This episode is a wonderful reminder of how important it is to care for ourselves - AND our bodies if we want to enjoy our lives! Aubrey Reinmiller is a licensed Physical Therapist Assistant, Certified Personal Trainer, Functional Aging Specialist, Habit Coach Pro, guest blogger, and Amazon Best Selling Author focused on helping women and a few good men over 50 to reinvent aging through her body-friendly live online workouts and in your corner support through VitalityFitnWell.com! #22 Connecting With Loved Ones in Spirit
Being sensitive usually means having a strong sense of other people's emotions, but for some, this sensitivity doesn't end when people pass away.  Today's guest learned, that not only is she able to pick up on what people around her are going through, but she can also pick up communications from the other side.  Shaine Amour is an Empowering Medium, and I don't think it's a coincidence we met just after my mom passed away! But have no worries - this is not a sad conversation at all! In fact, this episode is so filled with love and fun and energy, that the connection couldn't quite keep up!  We talk about many aspects of the human experience - the inward journey of personal development, of being READY to take on the work we came to do, and how life on planet earth is our home away from home. That HOME is in spirit and that being sensitive allows us a fuller awareness of who we are and where we 'belong'.  Shaine Amour, Empowering Medium, reconnects people with their loved ones who passed away and validates life after life. Shaine empowers people to embrace their own spiritual connection where they communicate with their departed loved ones in their own way  - nurturing that FOREVER CONNECTION as they recognize that they are spiritual beings, opening them up to a profound spiritual relationship from within. #21 Sensitivity Across Cultures
What role does culture play in our lives as sensitives? Our guest today is Juri Love who was born in Japan and moved to America where she is thriving as a journalist, producer, model, actress, mom, and philanthropist. That has been a big shift and we talk about how especially women have different roles and opportunities.  Juri has a very full schedule and shares how she learned to focus on doing the things she enjoys doing and how she uses manifestation and Law of Attraction to do so. Juri has a past of violence, abuse, and homelessness which has taught her to be strong and to use her intuition.  It has also inspired most of her work, and you can find beautiful examples of this in her book and her podcast: A Gift From Adversity Juri's Book: https://www.amazon.com/Gift-Adversity-Overcoming-Domestic-Homelessness/dp/1610059700 Juri's Podcast: https://open.spotify.com/show/15hhFxvSpB8mDhG9DjVy0v If you want to dig a little deeper into HOW we turn adversity into gifts, you might enjoy the upcoming workshop: Happy & Aligned which is starting on June 6th.
