What even are evangelicals? Where did they come from all of a sudden, and what are they doing all over the news? This is a podcast that sets out to answer those questions (along with many others) for those listeners interested in understanding and engaging in conversation––civil discourse––with those fundamentally unlike themselves.
This episodes introduces my core goals as host, as well as my reasons for wading into this conversation at all. After all, as a queer (nonbinary) ex-evangelical, you might think I'd still be running in the absolute opposite direction from *gestures* this whole idea. But I'm also a missionary kid, with friends and family I don't want to cut completely out of my life. So how do I figure out how to talk to people so completely unlike myself––people who in fact might even be offended that such a person as me exists? I learn about them.
Here, in bite-sized podcast form, is what I'm hoping to learn over the course of hosting this podcast.
Interested in following along as I sort things out? I'll be blogging sporadically at www.medium.com/talkingtoevangelicals, tweeting occasionally at @evangelicalspod, and insta-ing once in a blue moon at @talkingtoevangelicals. I am also reachable at [email protected]––at least until the spam folder overflows. Welcome to the grand adventure of making conversation!
