Ep 220 | 2 Corinthians 8-13, Come Follow Me 2023 (September 18-24)

– God loves and rewards a cheerful giver. Paul encouraged the Saints in Corinth to donate to the poor in Jerusalem.

– Paul underscores his authority and unwavering devotion to Christ, despite his inadequacy as an orator.

– 2 Cor. 11.3 portrays Eve in a light that can be viewed as negative, influencing perceptions of women over the centuries. Interpreting such verses through the lens of the Restoration provides a more clear understanding of Eve and her part in the Fall.

– Pain does not signify God’s displeasure. Paul takes pride in his tribulations.

– There was a dispute in Corinth concerning Paul’s appeal for donations to the Jerusalem collection. While some were willing to finance Paul’s missionary work, hoping to gain some sway over him, they were reluctant to contribute to the needs of the impoverished.

– Paul counsels the church in Corinth to “Examine yourselves, whether you be in the faith.” Our response to guidance from our religious leaders can be a reflection of our dedication to walking in the Savior’s footsteps.
