In this episode, we will look at the last few pages of Book 1. These are the pages where Athena, disguised as a family friend named Mentes, gives Telemachus some much needed pluck, or courage, to stand up to the suitors and he fellow Ithakans who, up to this point, have done nothing to stop the suitors from taking advantage of Odysseus’ time away. Let’s see what the goddess of wisdom and war strategy has to say.
