Black men suffer mentally in silence because they’re told to be strong and it’s not manly to show emotions. Black women are told ‘this is what being a woman is about, so suck it up buttercup’. But at what point can we cry? Who can we speak to? When does our mental health matter? blank slate noun : someone or something that is still in an original state and that has not yet been changed by people, experiences, etc. It is important to reset our minds to exactly this. A blank slate, where we let go and give ourselves the opportunity to start fresh. It is important for our wellness but also for ourselves to accept that it’s okay, and it’s NEVER too late.
