In this episode, I talk to Sherry Shaban. At 16, Sherry was hit by a car and nearly left paralyzed. She would have her first back surgery before she was 17. Despite this setback, she was committed to fitness and later became a gym owner, only to find herself in the hospital undergoing another back surgery. Unable to demonstrate a single squat, she was frustrated with herself, disappointed and angry for being a “victim” of her circumstances. But her turning point towards recovery came from understanding that one of the central elements to transformation is to let go of debilitating and self limiting thoughts, and to begin to rewrite a new story. She now coaches people from all walks of life on how to rewrite their own story and fall in love with fitness. This episode is actually a follow-up to a previous one I did – my episode on clarity. After running that episode, a friend reached out and said “But how? How do you get clarity?”I share techniques I've gathered from hours of delving deep into topics like this. Full disclaimer – none of these techniques are my own. But I have tested them and found that they have worked for me. So, maybe, they will work for you too. Of course, feel free to pick and choose what you want to do. Just make sure you’re not copping out of an exercise cause it feels too hard. One of the key parts to this process is being honest with yourself, no matter what comes up.
