Episode I listened to was basically hosts talking about themselves and then quickly quoting the Talmud and bending it severely and using it to talk about a random topic (episode about “not knowing”). The hosts seem to “not know” but they teach anyways…

I have been listening to this podcast daily for more than three years. It’s always informative and entertaining! I do try to supplement it with the 5 Minute Daf Yomi podcast on Podbean, as Liel only covers one or two sentences of the daily daf.

Just came across this podcast and have found it to be amazing. I love how the hosts connect the Talmud to some of the issues we face in a modern world. I’ve been listening to two episodes every day and really enjoy having my day made a little Talmudic

Usually awesome, always enjoyable. The unpacking of Talmud — the historical explication and the modernization — is what goes on, mostly through conversation between the host and guests. Highly recommended!

Truth be told, this is the only Tablet-produced content I can stand to take in anymore. Unlike Tablet’s—and Liebowitz’s own—print content, Take One is happy, non-controversial, and non-reactionary. I recommend it to all the folks I meet interested in wading into Talmud!

This show is literally awesome. Full of mind, soul, and heart enriching content. I got here late, so I started on the very first episode and I’m catching up by listening every free moment.

I always learn something new, and often get a laugh or two along the way.

Studying Talmud is hard. It’s easy to get lost in the nitty gritty details of the discussion and miss the important truths being conveyed. Take One Daf Yomi provides clarity that informs my study every day.

Such a pleasure to listen to. Makes you feel connected to these ancient texts, which by the way I studied for many years when I was in high school at a Jewish day school and I had no interest and could never understand and now I have this tremendous appreciation.

I’ve heard of Daf Yomi throughout my life but it seemed to distant a goal. This has enabled me to dip my toe into the ocean of what is Talmud. Thank you Liel! להצליחה!

Liel Liebowitz and his Daf Yomi learning start each day for me. This podcast is a gateway to learning I would not obtain otherwise. Rabbi Dovid Bashevkin’s deeply felt commentaries and teachings move me deeply. I am grateful this is a 7.5 year exercise!

I like being able to listen to each day’s episode while brewing tea or making breakfast. The episodes are quick and digestible. The host does a great job making each episode feel distinct from the others.

Find it a great way to start my day Really appreciate the wisdom

At the start of the Daf cycle the pod cast was strong. Now I feel there are a couple of issues: 1. Sound quality from a majority of the callers is very poor and I cannot even listen to the episode. 2. Self promotion of the “guest” speakers. They are promoting their new book, their podcast ect. Let’s get back to the heart of the Daf and focus on making each day aka podcast the best it can with the best sound quality from the callers.

I love starting each day with the Take One podcast. It’s a great way to study Talmud in a busy life.

I am a Christian, and always knew I was missing a great deal of cultural context when reading the Tanakh (really, both Old and New Testaments). I am greatly blessed by these conversations about the conversations about God’s presence in the minutiae of life.

I wake up every morning and listen, I am addicted.

I love this podcast—it makes Talmud feel so much more accessible. My husband and I are in the process of converting, and listening to this is an easy and lovely way to learn in short snippets every day. Thank you! :)

An example is the post thanksgiving podcast where Josh cross is discussing his anger regarding people that travel - maybe he’s right maybe he’s wrong - however even the lawmakers that tell The populations not to travel-are traveling! He should just worry about him and his family doing what they feel is right.

These few minutes not only help bring perspective to the Dad but they do so in delightfully unexpected way each day. Thoroughly enjoyable and memorable!

I have not missed an episode of this Podcast. Sometimes an episode is an okay, that is interesting; sometimes, you get one that is a well I guess he needed to say something; but then you get one like today with Sarah Telushkin (sp?) that surpasses good and gives birth to ideas. Bring her back, the pace and the exciting thoughts about the other apples on Adam’s tree were provocative and fresh. This episode was Super, and flowed naturally.
