Tahiera Monique Brown speaks about her invite to speak at Birmingham Faith In Films Breakfast Club for June 2019. The focus of her speech will be the production of her film “The Prayer”. She will be introducing her director, leading actors and child actors to the audience. Tahiera says, “I am humbled and honored to have this opportunity to speak in front of this amazing group of very talented and faithful people of the film industry. God is good.”

I’ve been posting blogs about my journey as the caregiver of a special needs adult with Alzheimer’s. On February 28th, my beautiful sister, that I lovingly referred to as my Boss passed away. She fought the long goodbye longer than anybody thought possible. She struggled to live for me, because I did not want her to go and she seemed to know that. But, the day came when I knew she had to go to the emergency room. She could no longer eat. She’d forgotten how. She could no longer stand on her own. She’d forgotten how. She stopped trying to be my Boss and I realized I was losing her in pieces. Doors were closing in her brain to prepare for the end of life. Putting her in hospice devastated me, but having to bring her home after seven days to die, totally took me by surprise. Two nights later, she passed away. I got to bathe her and spend quality time with her before she was taken away for her last ride in my community. So this is Goodbye to a piece of my heart and soul. Rest In Heaven Gussie Grant. As a speaker and as a survivor, my words are meant to be a pathway to freedom. On my honor I promise to seek the right words with the voice that God has given me to bring light into the darkness of the broken hearted. I am not perfect and I am broken, beaten and battered because of abuse, but I have faced the challenges to be free. It was the voice of a speaker that I heard for the first time on television, that gave me the will to fight and to live. I pray that my voice be that voice for you. As caregivers, we face pain and heartbreak. The loved ones that we care for depends on us no matter what is going on in our lives. Your body can be getting broken down from the lifting, carrying your love one, changing bed clothes and diapers to giving lifesaving meds, to feeding, bathing and dressing them. You reach a point where a good cry is not enough. Praying is not enough. That is when you need to talk to someone who understands your plight. I reached that point and looked for respite care, but it was too expensive. I saw that I had no choice but to pray to God. After my prayer, I was ready to face my day. Later, that very same day, my daughter told me, “Mama, I am taking a few days off work to help you.” God heard my plea and answered my prayer. Tahiera’s Tahieraisms: The Battle Is Over - Today somebody is lying in hospice alone and afraid, even though they’re surrounded by loved ones. They’re facing going away to an existence that no one can truly comprehend. I came to understand how important it was to give any person that is lying on their deathbed a voice. I’ve watched families totally break down at the loss of the matriarch of the family. The suffering was long and painful without that mother or father voice of reason. I remember the voices surrounding my bed when I was in a coma. You’re discussed as if you’re no longer among the living. In this segment I am asking you to release the things that binds you to the pains you’ve endured and prepare for life among the living, but if you know that your time here is short, take a few moments to speak out to the ones you love and share the desires of your heart. Give the gift of love.

When I was faced with choosing my life over my children’s, that’s when I knew that I trusted my faith more than anything. I’d been having to trust God all of my life and I’d learned to pray as a little child. I knew of one God and He had always stood by me and brought me through all kinds of trials and I knew he was with me in that critical hour. All I asked of Him was to let me witness the fact that my children were safe. My Name Is Tahiera Monique Brown and I Believe In Miracles.
