Table Talk is a new broadcast discussion show in which influential local figures (politicians, industry leaders, innovators, experts and intellectuals) take part in filmed roundtable conversations. Each episode will focus on a particular theme drawn from the political, social and cultural issues that affect life on our Island. Table Talk is all about respectful, informed debate; it rejects the loud, hollow antagonism that has come to characterise public discourse in the UK and beyond. Table Talk’s moderator/presenter will introduce the show and give an overview of the topic under discussion. Four or five guests will be given time and space to develop their arguments and explain their position without unnecessary interruptions -- while they may disagree, they will try to persuade each other to their point of view rather than score points. The programme will be filmed as-live without a studio audience, to keep proceedings relaxed and informal. Shortly after filming, an edited broadcast version will be posted on Table Talk’s dedicated website and Youtube Channel, with highlights then promoted across social and legacy media.
