In 2012 Amelia was lured from the rocky shores of England and travelled to the Philippines to take up a position with a television production company. Never one to knock back adventure, she was sold a story of crystal waters and creative freedom but entered a tax haven guarded by guns, malice and a formaldehyde beer called Red Horse. Giddy up.
Adventures are defined as an exciting experience or bold undertaking; nowhere does it mention life threatening, mind altering or spiritually incapacitating. Similarly there is no mention of weapons manufacturing, corruption and kidnapping or emotionally defective management intent on world domination within a square kilometre of their creative limitations. No, none of that was in the job description!
A Philippines love story.
In her sixth solo show, Amelia Jane Hunter charters the past year of her life living abroad, allowing the audience a unique insight into the machinations of her decision making and the measure of her madness. You just can’t make this shit up!
Riveting, ribald and completely uncensored, Amelia is a powerful storyteller with a penchant for the theatrical. Never short of a story or afraid to pepper the air blue, sit back and enjoy the story of a carnival ride that should have been closed down the day Michaels Jackson hair caught fire.
