It’s the final preseason game before the regular season. NHL Insider Sean Shapiro joins host Gavin Spittle. Gavin and Sean agree that the primary goal is to avoid injuries and to enter the regular season healthy. Jake Oettinger missed the preseason, Sean would like to see Oettinger play a period with Texas for conditioning. Matt Duchene and Colin Blackwell skated and Tyler Seguin returns tonight for the first time since his injury. Gavin and Sean say Seguin will be a key component to this team this season and they want him to stay healthy. Going around the NHL, Brandon Tanev was placed on waivers by the Mammoth. Looking at Dylan Larkin trade odds, the Dallas Stars are 4th on the list. Sean proposes a trade the Stars and Red Wings could make. They wrap up by looking at over/unders for player points on the Stars and top players around the league.

The guys note that Sam Steel and Radek Faksa will account for $5.7 million against the cap next year, which could increase to $6.7 million if Oscar Back is re-signed. Sean says the Stars have all of their top executives at the tournament. Jim Nill spoke very highly of Trey Taylor and that a call-up could possibly be in his future sooner rather later. Nill also spoke highly of the Stars goaltender prospects. Sean got to talk with assistant General Manager Scott White and gives us the latest on him.
