Just ok…. Theresa talks too much
A lot of great information, however, Would be even better if the host rambled less and allowed her guests to actually speak. There are now better medical SLP podcasts out there.

Providers Who Care
I just finished Episode 262 featuring Alicia Nicole Brooms. As a caregiver, hearing a her speak with such passion about the services she provides and compassion towards her patients was encouraging to hear. Amazing podcast!

Take Care of YOU!!!
Episode 253 hit home for me! Nothing but smiles and head nodding coming from me over here. I believe every SLP can relate to this episode. Especially since we’ve all been affected by the pandemic in some way. My biggest takeaway: When we take care of ourselves our compassion tank is continually re-fueled!!! Thank you Theresa for your dedication to our field. You are making an incredible impact!

No Gold Medals Here
Theresa Richard is now sending “cease and desist” letters to anyone that even remotely disagrees with the expensive and irrelevant certification that she’s pushing on listeners and new SLP graduates. As much as her podcast is highly rated, do you research, avoid the content, and know that there is an abundance of content freely available elsewhere. Contrary to another reviewer, move along, no gold medals here.

Hi
Can you do an episode discussing the legal issues that have been circulating regarding the medSLP collective? Would absolutely love to hear your side

Scary Bullying
The host of this podcast is participating in sending “cease and desist” letters to anyone that remotely shares an opinion about the expensive and irrelevant certification she is always pumping. Do this small field a favor and avoid her content

Too bad
This podcast has been sooooo helpful over the years. But sadly, I’m now unsubscribing. I feel like we should be a team as SLPs, supporting and rooting each other on, in order to collectively be the best we can be. It’s been brought to my attention that this host isn’t a team player, and that’s too bad. There are some wonderful FB groups that I’ll be relying on for the newest info instead.

BEST SLP PODCAST OUT THERE
I’m currently in my senior year of my undergrad, applying to grad schools and with covid, it’s been especially hard to stay motivated in the major since everything is remote for me atm. I decided to listen to this podcast on a whim, and the amount of passion and helpful advice brought to the table made me once again fall in love with what I’ll be doing in the future. You guys are AMAZING! 💕💕💕

Been here from the beginning …
When I started listening to Swallow Your Pride, it was a breath of fresh air to finally hear other therapists on the same page as me. I was always pushing the “norm” and this podcast was the first place I felt supported.

Could I give more than 5 stars?
With minimal dysphagia hands-on experience during grad school, this podcast has been THE resource I have relied on for clinical questions. I know the discussions are research based, thorough and provide immediate therapeutic ideas. 10/10 recommend.

Medical SLP GOLD
I am a prior ultrasound technician and the medical field is my passion. Medical SLP’s are unsung heroes! I’ve worked with so many stroke patients prior to working on my SLP degree and there was a HUGE discrepancy on their ability to access medical SLPs for cognitive deficits. We need more outreach for cognitive therapy and dysphagia (don’t write it off!)! Thank you to making this field seen!

Amazing SLP podcast!
I just love this podcast so much! I listen to episodes on my commute to work or when I’m out walking/running to keep up with my med SLP knowledge. The amount of amazing nuggets of information that are so easy to digest is incredible! The diversity of topics just makes you crave more information. I can’t even pick a favorite episode because there are too many to choose! I’ve been able to take the information to work with me and apply it to help my patients and my professional relationships! Give it a listen!

Game changer!
All of these episodes are informative and thought provoking! The discussions are for medical SLPs, health care workers, families, patients and all to whom want to grow, learn and understand the information out there about practice patterns, research and compassion of a skilled medical profession.

Informative and humorous
Just started listening and can't wait to listen to the next one. Love this way of getting info vs reading and sifting through written info to find what you need. Looking forward to the next episodes! Kelsey Mealey

Great Resource
As a CF starting off in a SNF, I felt so overwhelmed. This resource was so great for me and it gave me nuggets to research further. This podcast in conjunction with the Med SLP Collective was exactly what I needed.

Easily Digestible, up to date info
I found SYP halfway through grad school and MY GOODNESS it was so helpful! SYP helped me to bridge the gap between theory and practice. Don’t forget the show notes! They provide references and highlights from each episode. Thank you SYP!

As a new clinician in the med SLP world, I absolutely love listening to the SYP podcast on my way to work each morning! I am always captivated by the qualified guests and their approaches to challenging topics. I love this podcast!
Listening to SYP has been so great! I play an episode each morning on my commute to work and I have learned so much from all of the amazing guest speakers! As an early career SLP making a transition between from the schools to a SNF, I can truly say this podcast has provided me with tons of knowledge and it has made me feel more confident in my decision making!

I get this for free?!
I recently started this entire podcast over and seriously am still in awe of just how much I have learned for free! I appreciate the wide variety of topics covered, the integration of listener feedback, and the way it feels like you’re sitting just around the dinner table chatting with your friends. I recommend this show to others constantly, and love sharing specific episodes with non-SLPs to help them better understand what we do.

Motivating and educational
For a medical SLP, this podcast is wonderful!! I’ve been a practicing SLP for over 20 years, and it can be easy to get into a rut feeling comfortable that I know what I need to know. But I DON’T want to be that therapist. I have listened since the beginning, but often found it hard to carve out time for it. Now I listen on my way into work, and I arrive energized and passionate to start the day. I can neither confirm nor deny that I recently changed jobs just in order to have time to listen to Theresa and her guests on my commute, but it works for me and it will work for you too!

Love the info! But not “awesome”
Great variety of topics and appreciate what I have learned to apply directly to my practice. However, the continuous use of the word “awesome” to respond to the guest is over used and distracting. In the first few minutes of the High Flow episode, it was used numerous times. Please keep sharing the knowledge but find a new word as an interviewer!

The BEST!
Want to learn about swallowing? Be ready for career changing knowledge 🤯! The amount of information here is ridiculous. And it’s all FREE! If you love what’s offered here, go join the MedSLP Collective as well. You will NOT regret!

Okay
Hit or miss. Not all speakers are necessarily qualified to be providing education.

This podcast is a great resource for new clinicians. It breaks dysphagia myths and allows us all to be the best EBP clinicians we can!

Excellent Podcast
I recently starting working with adults after a few years with peds. I stumbled upon this podcast and it has been LIFE CHANGING! I listen to it on my commute and I have learned so much valuable information about dysphagia. Every episode is super interesting and fun to listen to and is filled with awesome research and info. It’s taught me so much and inspired me to check out research and trainings I otherwise would not have known about. There is so much to learn about within our field and this podcast has become a regular part of my day. I feel like a better clinician because of what I have learned from this podcast. I love it! Keep up the good work!

Great podcast
Love the information in this podcast! As a graduate student I look forward to this podcast each week. It has given me a much more in depth knowledge about dysphagia and the medical side of speech-language pathology. My only wish is that more the podcast would feature more information about pediatric dysphagia/acute care pediatrics (not in the NICU). Keep up the great work!

I have listened to this podcast since first year of graduate school. As a listener, I have learned so much that I feel like it has put me ahead of my peers. Not only have I gained general knowledge about Dysphagia or being a clinician, but I have learned how to advocate for myself as an SLP. I feel more prepared for job interviews and being able to stand on my own two feet. Theresa does a great job at keeping the conversation flowing without making you feel like you are sitting in a lecture hall. I am about to start my CF and I know I will be coming back to re-listen and apply some of the older episodes. Keep doing what you’re doing!

More Productive Ways To Spend Your Time
You will have to get through all of the holier-than-thou digressions, with time spent self-bragging and venting about other SLPs or members of other disciplines, before you hear any substantial information that you can use to improve your practice and help your patients. If you don’t care about all of the extra fluff embedded in these podcast episodes, then give it a listen!

GREAT PODCAST!
I love this podcast! I listen religiously and gain so much information that is practical and stimulating. It motivates me to be a better clinician and clinical manager. I would LOVE to hear you talk to Heather Bonilha about MBS frame rates/pulses per second vs continuous fluoro, DAP and why it is imperative that we follow evidenced based practice by using fluoro at 30fps/30pps. There are so many SLPs out there that either have no idea how their fluoro is set or are content with using 15fps or even 7.5fps because their rads have told them it is sufficient.

Such good stuff.
I am a graduate student and a current SLPA working in acute care. This podcast has increased my knowledge of swallowing immensely. I am super thankful for all you guys do to bring light to updated evidence based practices and to provide information about all job opportunities in swallowing. I have definitely broadened my horizons for the future. Excited to see what knowledge you all will bring me down the road.

I've been working in home health, and was looking for an educational podcast to keep me busy on my drives around town... little did I know this podcast would absolutely reignite my passion for adult dysphagia! I haven't been this excited about research since grad school. Theresa, thanks for waking me back up to all the amazing things we can do as SLP's - I'm now elbow deep in CEU's and I blame you. Worth every second of listening!

Huge time saver
I’ve been in the field for 20 years, and I love listening to this podcast to help keep me up to date in the world of dysphagia! The past 10 years I’ve worked in home health and as a PRN SLP in inpatient rehab and now acute and outpatient rehab. I’ve missed collaborating with other professionals and learning from each other. This podcast has renewed my passion for the field so a big thanks to Theresa Richard and all her guest speakers! The podcasts are more like conversations between 2 professionals as opposed to boring, “stuffy” lectures 😆

Invaluable podcast
I an a first-year graduate student and I am so grateful for this podcast. If it didn’t exist, I fear I would go into practice not realizing just how important and necessary it is for us to take the initiative on evidence-based, patient-guided care. Thanks to Theresa, her knowledgeable guests, and the invaluable show notes, I don’t feel intimidated by all the evidence out there. I have places to start and I’m actually excited about it. I’m confident I can become a strong clinician and do the best for my patients. Thank you!
