She is the Founder/CEO of Patient Care Partners, LLC, a private patient advocacy firm since 2016, serving southcentral WI and beyond.  Debby and her team work exclusively on behalf of their patients and families. They are not part of any healthcare system, health insurer or care facility. As an independent third party, they help patients and families navigate complicated healthcare and insurance networks. They help with medical billing issues, care coordination and patient navigation from a nursing, case management and medical billing advocacy perspective. Fatou with Therese Morrissey on Advance Care Directive and Advance Care Planning
In this episode, I had the honor to speak with Therese Morrissey. Therese has been working as an Advance Care Planning Social Worker at Dean Health Plan since March 2019. Her prior health care experience, over 18 years, includes working as a Complex Case Manager at UW Health, an in-home and inpatient Social Worker at Agrace Hospice and a Medical Social Worker at Good Samaritan Regional Medical Center in Corvallis, Oregon. She received her master’s degree in Social Work at Loyola University-Chicago and her bachelor’s degree from Eastern Illinois University. Therese has a special interest in helping people to begin planning for unforeseen medical events and end of life. In this episode, I had the honor and pleasure of speaking with Mr. and Mrs. Brian and Anne Marie Reece. Brian W. Reece, Sr spent 4 years serving our country in the United States Marine Corp in machine maintenance and repair. At the age of 56, Brian was given the diagnosis of younger onset Alzheimer’s Disease. Brian and his wife Anne, a special education teacher, merged their two families together almost 30 years ago with 4 grown sons and now 14 grandchildren! Anne retired after 27 years of teaching as a special education teacher, and now uses her teaching skills to help Brian to learn new things and to help Brian with strategies for his short term memory. Together, Anne and Brian are a formidable team, helping Brian to prepare for the challenges that Alzheimer’s Disease brings. I am excited to share their story with you as we honor Families Impacted by Dementia during Brain Health Awareness Month
