“Out with the old and in with the new” is an adage that many of us apply when we make New Year's resolutions. We promise to eat healthier, save money, and stop procrastinating. Whatever you resolve to do, the intent is to make necessary changes to improve your quality of life. As we enter into the 90th year since the establishment of the Social Security Administration in August of 1935, America has the opportunity to look back at the status of its social safety nets, government-run programs to assist the most vulnerable such as people with disabilities or low-income, and make some much-needed New Year’s resolutions to improve them and the opportunity of the American Dream.
