Earlier this year, a new tournament was announced for the global baseball calendar. The inaugural Premier 12 will be held in Taiwan in November 2015, and qualification will be based purely on world rankings, with the top 12 teams to go through. Australia is currently 15th, but next month, the national under-21 team will be competing in the World Cup in Taiwan. A good result in this tournament could earn enough ranking points to put Australia into the top 12 as P12 qualifying closes.
