Streak of Lean
Rural agricultural environmentalism, or something like that. Two guys living in the country and trying to run small, weird ag businesses and figure it all out. We talk about the realities of farming and food behind all the noise. Also, Georgia history, the South, football, amateur herpetology, all things weird and wonderful. The standard stuff. RIP Burt, Flannery, Duane and Greg, Levon, Otis, Aretha, Harry Crews, James Dickey, grandmother and grandaddy, and so on and so on.
Our yearly episode! We are ever so excited to talk. It’s Coop. It’s Birdman. It’s the Lean Boys.
One is live on location from the Satilla Grocery parking lot hunkered down under the shady oak tree. The other’n is live from Americus. We lean with it. Rock with it. Talking swear words that would make Kirby Smart blush. Talking farming. Talking life. It’s ‘23. It’s a new us. A hopefully more consistent us. Brighter than a comet and twice as likely to burn out….

Making Love to the Land
We back. Farming is the subject. Audio isn't that bad. We'll see where this goes. Thanks, y'all.

Burn, Baby, Burn
We both burned our respective property in the same week and we decided to talk about it. The nuance of fire. The flames of passion. Rural enviro agriculture at the intersection of life and art. Cell coverage was good in both Americus and Waverly and the episode is clear as a spring fed creek. Anyways. Enjoy.

A Quick Update and Exposition on Frozen Gas Station Drinks
Brandon is slinging fresh farm goods. Coop is trying to help farmers get whatever Federal money they deserve. Together we don't have the time to put together full episodes right now. Plus, who can keep up with the news?  So, instead, we're offering brief conversations as the week goes by. Light-hearted, weird stuff because there's enough heavy out there. This one is a mini-update about our lives and a review of Icees, Slurpees, Slush Puppies, and Gator Ices. We live in rural Georgia, which means our internet and cell reception can be pretty bad, and that can lead to some funky things happening during the recording. You'll hear it. We're leaving everything in because it's fun. Unfortunately, Brandon's audio is pretty clear... Imagine the real conversation occurring in a hallway of echoes...in space...with rainbows.

COVID and Local Farms
We talk about COVID now that we’re a few weeks in. What’s going on in south Georgia and how has the pandemic affected local farmers. No frills. This was recorded on 4/17/20.

Coronavirus - Week 1
We recorded this on March 17 during the first full week of the emergency response to the coronavirus. We talk about our impressions of what this all means, its effects on Brandon's business and the local food system, and where we might go from here. The conversation here is still evergreen. We'll continue to record every week to document the changes we see and feel as best we can.

One Year Older, Wiser, Weirder, Wilder
A new year and new season of mystery, intrigue, and tales of high adventure on the farm. After a long layoff, we review the arc of our lives over 2019 and make some minor resolutions for the future. It turns out when you go with the flow, things get easier. Follow your bliss, don’t fret the small things, be kind to your spine. Donn professes his love of retro synthwave. Brandon explores the promise and intimidation of the writing life. Plus, we touch on those dire occasions when a sow might need a cold beer to cure her savagery and the cool savor of a Winston cigarette. The show starts with a passel of peepers and ends with a live recording at the mystical navel of the SOUEGA flatlands — the Waverly Minit Mart. Selah. Episode sponsored by Lang’s Marina Restaurant in St. Marys, Classic Georgia, Tales from the Altamaha, and Georgia Sea Grill on beautiful St. Simons Island. Please smash that five-star rating, and we appreciate y’all for listening. Website is live.  Our gallery of Georgia courthouses is waiting for your unique view. Some Things Flat Don't Change
Brandon delivers pastured pork in style, his current chariot of swine a curious effect of Amazon’s long tentacles within the economy. Donn traffics in acronyms and updates everyone on the lamentable state of grant programs and malfunction at the USDA. The episode winds down with a fairly substantive conversation about farm conferences and the specious language of good food. Plus, quick Savannah trivia, dang Bluffton traffic, and a brief sunset interlude. No added animal sounds this go-round, and we’re still learning how to think and speak good. But the audio is crisp and clean, and you can practically smell the barbecue smoke wafting over the Cumberland Sound.
