<p>In 2005 <em>Star Trek: Enterprise</em> was cancelled, and for the first time in 18 years there was no <em>Star Trek</em> on TV. A few years earlier <em>Star Trek</em> the next generation had crashed and burned at the theater so there was no Trek in theaters, either. It was a dark time for Trekkies, but there was a glimmer of hope on the horizon.</p>
