Love Stories of Scotland!
I’ve had the good fortune to visit Scotland twice. This podcast is so fun (and educational) and gives me a never ending list of more places I want to visit in Scotland. I have a degree in geology and get so excited when Jenny discusses the geology of different areas. I can’t wait to return and I’ll bring a bigger suitcase to bring a few Scottish rocks home. Keep up the great work, Annie & Jenny!

Wonderful podcast
I just love this podcast so much! Jenny and Annie make it so interesting and fun, and I really enjoy their humor and the folklore. I’ve binge-listened to all the episodes over the past 3 months, and I’m so glad to have come across this podcast. Edit to add: A year later, I still absolutely love this podcast. What a joy to listen to the folklore and history and punny jokes in each episode. Just brilliant. Well done, Jenny and Annie, and I’m always looking forward to the next episode!

Perfect for our Scotland roadtrip!
My bestie and I are on a roadtrip around Scotland, and we have listened to countless episodes as we drive, some about the places we are visiting and some about myths and historic events. We have LOVED listening, laughing, and learning with Annie and Jenny. We feel like we have become friends on this journey 😆💗 Thank you so much for this podcast!

A Treasure and a Treat
This podcast has completely grown on me within a handful of sessions. For one, they make history as it should have been taught: fun and interesting, so easy to remember. They clearly do a ton of research from a range of not easily found sources. The humor, learning, goodwill, and charm are really quite special. I really appreciate the moments that make me laugh, am halfway through 2020 and can easily imagine starting from the beginning when I'm finally current with the podcasts. Thank you!

Visiting soon
Hello, Jenny and Annie. I am a fan of you and your podcast Stories of Scotland. I started listening maybe 8 months ago as I booked our trip to Scotland for this summer in July. (I’m 41, mom of 4 from Dallas, Texas.) We plan to spend all of 9-10 July in Inverness. We will rent bikes to get around, so I’ll not be surprised if I spot one of you about. We only have plans to visit Celt Street Church on Sunday, and otherwise nothing. If you have any events in Inverness at that time or any recommendations (I’d love to experience some local culture like a ceilidh or any music), please let me know! Keep the clever, informative, humorous podcasts coming! Slàinte mhath! Cara K.

Funny and educational with a wee bit of “wow, I think my Nan spoke blethered about that.”.
I started listening to the podcast when we were driving from Stirling to Inverness during Christmas season of 2021. It has been fun. Some of the stories I have known quite well, others are completely new, and then there are some that have tickled the back of my brain as I reached for some lost memory of my Nan telling a story or trying to teach me the Highland fling. I do recall very clearly that she would say that according to the English we were cut throats and horse thieves. Then she would laugh and say, they had it coming. While we have lived for over a century in California, we still keep some traditions and visit friends in Port of Mentieth often enough that my 4th generation Californian daughter has decided to learn Scottish Gaelic and move back over for Uni. I guess it may come full-circle. I have shared this with the fam, and look forward to every episode.

Thank you!
I stumbled on your podcast a couple of months ago and have thoroughly enjoyed each episode. Thank you so much for your research, story telling prowess and for the laughs! I’m only 1/4 Scottish but feel an unexplained strong affinity for your country. I’ve done my family tree and sadly can only pin down records for the arrival of my great great grandparents in the US but nothing about their Scottish life. ( A common last name “Harvey” could be part of the problem). Through your podcasts I can better imagine what drove them to seek a better life in America. Keep up the GREAT work. Delightful!
I really enjoy this podcast, and not just because the hosts have such lovely accents. The stories are fascinating, and told with zest and usually some humor. I love that the hosts love their subject, but do not take themselves too seriously. Always educational and entertaining!

Wonderful independent podcast
Here is my cheeky l’il 5-star review. Archival research, humor, and charm. Each episode is a gift. You don’t have to be a Scot to fall in love with this podcast. Coos, clans, ceilidh, and clearances - Annie and Jenny cover the good and the bad with heart and insight.

Absolutely Fantastic!
I love this podcast. Normally, history isn’t my thing; I love science. But these two make me intrigued and laugh at the same time. Really interesting topics and fun banter, what more can you ask for? Singing? They have that too! The jingle is also really nice. Thanks for this!

Absolutely fantastic!
Im a huge fan of this podcast. As an American with family ties to Scotland I've always been interested in learning as much as i can. A steady curriculum of Irvine Welsh, Still Game, Karen Dunbar, Chewin the fat, 44 Scotland Street, multiple trips to Scotland and… Annie and Jenny!! Ok, I have to say these two have fantastic chemistry! They are smart, thoughtful , funny and good natured. I’ve really enjoyed listening to them grow and become more skilled and confident in this medium. I can’t wait to see what the future has in store for them. In the meantime i will tune in and laugh and learn. Thanks you two!! Craig Holmes from California

I am so delighted that I came across this podcast. When I first started listening in 2022, I binged every episode and enjoyed every minute of it! I love the banter, the laugh out loud jokes and puns, and, of course, the intriguing stories of Scotland!

This Makes Me So Happy!
I am SO in love with this podcast, and with Jenny and Annie. I’m from northern England and have spent/still spend quite a bit of time in Scotland (my favorite place on earth), but currently live in California. Listening to Jenny and Annie always brightens my day, with their great banter, interesting and well-researched stories, general good craic and daft jokes. Not to mention the supreme dolphin noises 👌🏻. I listen to this podcast a lot while driving so there are many Californians out there who probably think I’m absolutely mental now, as I’m always laughing out loud while driving around Los Angeles… I’ll be in Scotland in about a week, and we’ve added the Mulochy Clootie Well and Chapel Yard Cemetery to the first day thanks to this podcast! Can’t wait to visit and see something new. Keep doing what you do! Can’t wait for more episodes. Slàinte Mhath!

Delightful
Discovered this little gem entirely by chance, and I’m so glad I did. I love Jenny and Annie’s way of making me literally laugh out loud one moment, and then feel compelled to stop what I’m doing to marvel in something beautiful the next. Just splendid.

Charming!
I am utterly charmed by these two women and their stories of Scottish history, folklore, geography, geology, and so on. Meet Annie, the historian and archivist, and Jenny, the comedian-adventurer-geologist-witch (I’m sure I’m missing something). Their personalities are delightful, and their lovely Scottish accents are like soothing music. I love listening to them in the evening to wind down after a long day.

Podcast queens weave enthralling stories
I first listened to Stories of Scotland when I was taking a two week road trip across Scotland with my partner. We were absolutely enthralled with Jenny and Annie and their incredibly well-researched and artfully told Stories of Scotland! I’ve been a regular listener ever since. Whether I am seeking an escape or a good laugh, when I listen to the show I am transported to another place and time through their immersive stories. Their podcast has helped me develop an even greater appreciation for this gorgeous country!

Amazing and enlightening show
As an American who loves Scotland and is dream of returning, this show provides such fascinating anecdotes of one of the best countries I’ve ever visited. I love the blend of folklore, science, and off course the accents done by co-host Jenny. I’m saving up my nickels (or twopence?) to revisit, and of course visit Inverness! In the meantime, I’ll be binging this podcast!

Awesome podcast. This review is co-written by a father/daughter duo (father: 45, daughter: 10) who have been enjoying your podcast for the last year or so, and we both love it - especially the scary stories episodes. (We even drew our own interpretations of the story of John Neal on the moor to Greenlaw while listening to that episode.) Now you guys keep us company while we do art projects, bake, clean, and get ready for bed. Thanks for the laughs, the thrills, and the fascinating information about Scotland. (Daughter Rose wants to add: also thanks for helping drown out annoying older brother being annoying.)

Great stories
I started listening to this when we were closing in on our trip to Great Britain in May. I'm just in Season 2 (or I guess, Series 2 now. It's a wonderful podcast and I love the hosts. They're so much fun and really bring life to the stories - whether it's about a hill or witches - it's enteratining and interesting.

Historical Storytelling that won’t put you to sleep!
These two women are fantastic at telling stories, and I would recommend this to anyone with an interest in Scottish or UK history; or anyone who just needs something different and interesting to listen to. They make me laugh out loud at their ridiculous puns and genuinely funny anecdotes. Give them a listen, you won’t regret it!

Best Find of my Year so far.
I found this podcast after finishing Season 6 of Shetland, and still in Season 6 of Outlander. This fills in the real stories in between the two great story lines written by Diana Gabaldon and Ann Cleeves. The two hosts are very knowledgeable, and I’m thirsty for the rest of the fabric that joins the two tapestries formed by the two authors. I’m heading in for more while I do my tending on my own croft.
