This week we close out our sermon series, Faith that Works, by looking at James' closing to his letter. Far from throwing in something at the end of the letter for convenience, James highlights the most important tool in the toolbox for followers of Jesus... prayer! We are encouraged to pray daily and in every circumstance because God wants us to be connected with him always. Scripture: James 5:13-20

While planning should be encouraged, God alone knows the future and we would do well to include God in our planning. Equally, there is no need to worry about the future because through our faith in our Lord Jesus, we know that we have an eternal destiny ahead of us.  Scripture: James 4:4-10, 13-17

James really hits hard with the challenge in this week's reading. As we continue our sermon series 'Faith that Works' we are reminded of the need to keep our tongues in control. They may be small compared to other parts of the body but they wield a great power... they can be used to praise God and build others up or they can be used to tear others down! As we come to the fifth sermon in our series 'Faith that Works', James unpacks a little about the role he sees faith playing in our world. For James, if we are to look at the life and ministry of Jesus, it is impossible to neglect the need for our faith to go to work. Again, our faith must inspire us to action! Scripture: James 2:14-26
