We chat to Camilla about the issue of abortion in Northern Ireland as part of a mini series we are doing focussing on this important topic. Camilla explains the history of abortion in Ireland, which she has focussed her book, "Repealed" on. We chat about the role of the Catholic Church and why abortion has been so divisive in Ireland.

In this episode we chat to Lucy and Alice, who work at Back off Scotland trying to legalise buffer zones around abortion clinics in Scotland. The campaign for this has been hugely successful so we talked about why this was so successful and the issue of abortion more generally in England and Scotland. We talk about their jobs, and how they support their students. We also delve into why there is a rape culture at UK universtities and how we can change this.

Amongst many other topics, we talk about how, in her view, the UK needs to create a more consensual society where sexual violence isn’t as normalised as it is currently. Another highlight is her view on justice and her experience of what this menas to individuals subjected to sexual assault.

On this month’s episode, I chat with Hannah, about her experiences of being a queer, disabled women in politics and acitvism. We look at the importance of feminism for everyone and why representation is needed at every level. We look at the role of the Women's Equality Party in driving the current political agenda, at a local and national level. Finally we delve into the gender pay gap, an area Hannah has spent much time campaigning on, especially in medical settings. Jess talks about the reality of her job and being a woman in modern politics. We chat about what the Conservative government, under Rishi Sunak, is doing to tackle the epidemic of gender based violence, and what she would do if she was in power. We also discuss why it is so difficult for our society to accept that there are a significant proportion of male perpetrators of sexual assault, and how we need to move forward from this. Just to note, this episode was recorded in December 2022 so any references to recent politics, refer to this time period.

Stacie opens up about her own own sexual assault and how this led her to be involved in the work she does now, helping others find life after sexual assault. We look at shame and why so many indivdiuals subjected to sexual assault feel like they need to remain silent. We also focus on the healing process and how this looks different for everyone.

In this episode we chat to Alice Jackson, founder of Strut Safe about a range of issues. We start by looking at the work Strut Safe does, and how Alice has managed to balance this with university commitments. We go on to chat about sex education and the issues within that. Finally we look at abortion and other issues that threaten women's safety in the UK.
