Amazing podcast
I was listening to The Minds of Madness and he mentioned this podcast and I figured I give it a shot but I’m glad I listened to it because it can be some funny stories and some serious and some that are sad but overall amazing!!

Child experiments
I just finished the 3 part miniseries about child experiments. I have seen a lot and heard a lot throughout my experiences as an ICU nurse. Intermediate EMT, Sheriff’s Office dispatcher, coroner and Search and Rescue so I have a very strong stomach. These episodes deeply affected me. I had to take them in small doses. Just the thought that a “person” could do that to a child is sickening. I love how you present the facts after many hours of research and put it out in a well thought manner. Keep them coming! Let’s just throw in a good old serial killer now and then. 😁 PS Mary always is a great addition to the shows! Love to all Jess McMahon

So Excited For More Episodes
Karen you are awesomely REAL! It’s refreshing and I love the content you put out, and the way you tell people’s stories with respect. It’s serious, entertaining, and teaches me a lot. So excited to hear more!!

Karen is awesome!
I started listening to this podcast a little over two years ago, and I have yet to be disappointed. I started at the beginning, then skipped around a little bit, and now I look forward and listen to every new episode. I especially look forward to episodes with Mary! She adds an excellent conversational aspect and really helps the flow of the episode. I also love how she sometimes asks questions as an outsider that I am often thinking. As a young adult currently entering the healthcare field, Karen’s vulnerability about her experiences have helped me with certain reservations that I have. I have so much respect for Karen and the sensitivity with which she treats each subject. I love you Karen and Mary!

Best podcast out there
I love all the stories they tell on this podcast. While telling a story she is so into it you can’t help but feel every emotion while listening . She also speaks so intelligently and does major research into the subject. I love her devotion and enthusiasm to tell us these stories. And as a nurse myself that loves true crime , this is my favorite podcast show ever!

Whaaat happened?
I started at the beginning & was so impressed with Karen’s topic choices & depth of research. There were some rough edges but I figured if I hung in there she’d sand ‘em out. Not so. I think Karen is just too sensitive for the subject matter. She brought her buddy in to lighten things up & the whole podcast went off the rails. Only 1 of every 3 episodes is a serious story. Most of the episodes are 2 grown women giggling & messing around. I mean, I’m all for levity & banter but these guys... the voices & accents & singing... it’s bad. So bad. I wish Karen would’ve stuck with the medical drama genre but if she wants to switch to a comedy format she should emulate something like the Bananas podcast or Is We Dumb. What she’s doing now doesn’t work from any angle.

Could have been great
Medical true crime? Yes, please! I binged all the episodes until Erica came onto the scene. She seems like a lovely person but the podcast fell apart. Karen lost focus & the majority of episodes are now ridiculous, goofy & unprofessional. No one wants to listen to girls at an 8th grade slumber party. Glad you're having fun, Karen but I wish you'd have taken this more seriously.

Funny and educational
I love this Podcast as serial killers both repulse and intrigue me and Karen does a great job!

Audio balance
Great podcast but please fix the audio balance! I can’t listen to it because one of the voices is so loud.

Love this podcast!
What a wonderful mix of storytelling, humor, and fascinating medical tales. I love both of the hosts voices, incredibly soothing to listen to. I’m hooked on this podcast. If you aren’t listening to it yet, you’re missing out!
Hello. ❤️❤️❤️
Very interesting
Some truly crazy stories that offer insight to how some people’s twisted minds function. I will put on an episode as a study break & and up getting pulled into the 3 part series to get the full story.

Hilariously funny and informative
This podcast is amazing! If you’re not listening to it, then you need to start. Karen always has the most interesting stories that you wouldn’t think we’re real but they are which makes it even crazier.I love how you deliver the stories. I wanted to say, I’m glad that you created the show, keep it up and forget the people who leave bad reviews they don’t know what’s good.

Could not love this podcast more
Karen, Erica, Mary, and guests, make this podcast one of the best! Well researched, thoughtful, funny but never disrespectful. From the incredibly awesome theme song to the cases covered, and the medical terminology explained, there is so much talent, heart, and soul poured into each episode. And the Facebook group is wonderful too. So grateful to be listening for over two years now. I always look forward to future episodes. Much love ~Abby

I have greatly enjoyed listening to this podcast over the past couple of years. During this time, I have been in nursing school, and have recently started my first nursing job. I don’t know about the rest of the listeners, but hearing stories about medical conditions and treatments really helps to cement what I learned in school. It also helps me gain knowledge about new health-related topics not covered in the textbooks, and raises new questions for research. Thanks, Karen, for sharing your experiences as an ER nurse in this podcast. I believe experience is the best teacher, and as I begin my nursing career, I appreciate learning from my own experience and that of others. I look forward to hearing more from you on STAT!

Amazing
This podcast is amazing I love love love her personality! Her wife is also amazing! I would die to be friends with them
Sweet lie
Unlistenable
I started the series on Howard Dully and the narrator sounds like a high schooler presenting a speech to their class. That wouldn’t be a deal breaker if it weren’t for how judgmental they all. Many conjectures, use of medical language in a non-medical context (flippantly calling someone a psychopath), using a person’s appearance to justify their judgements...

Love this podcast💕🥰
I have been a listener for maybe a year or so now, and I happened across this podcast when searching for medical themed podcasts (as I’m a pre-med student and live hearing about medical history and stuff). The first story I heard was Dr. Walter Freeman (a.k.a. Dr. Lobotomy) and his victim Howard Dully’s story, and I was immediately hooked. These stories are told with not only a lot of research and detail behind them, but with love and compassion. Karen is such a wonderful, empathetic, and lovely storyteller, and hearing her and Erica feed off each other’s silliness makes me smile every time I listen. I feel like I’m in on their conversation, and it’s just a hangout with good friends. Absolutely love this podcast and could not recommend it more, if you love medical true crime, compassionate storytelling, and goofiness, look no further.

Super love this podcast. Has a healthy balance of medical info/stories/crime and humor. Erica and Karen are truly funny, and compassionate with common sense. I never miss an episode. The Facebook group has wonderful, smart people from around the world too. ~Abby S.

Hidden gem
I found this podcast back in March right before everything shut down. This podcast as given me an amazing distraction from the world right now. It’s informative and I find all the case brilliantly told. Doing justice to the victims who suffered at the hands of others while also making it entertaining (in the most respectful way possible). Additionally Rig Life now Kren and Erka always makes me laugh while at the same time covering some pretty heavy topics that need to be talked about! Truly one of the best podcasts I have ever stumbled upon

Hands down the best
I finally drank the kool-aid and starting listening to podcasts about 3 months ago. As a nurse, medical podcasts was my first search and I found STAT! Karen has a way of telling these true ER stories that is both intriguing and respectful, always leaving me wanting more. I also love when Mary joins Karen bc they really bounce well off of each other. Both of their voices are soothing and I love the Canadian accents! HIGHLY recommended.

I tried, but got lost
The first episode I listened to was great and fun. Then I tried to listen to the psychiatric history episode. So Many Boring and Pointless tangents. And it’s a 2 hour episode? Wow. That was 1.5 hours of wandering and a half hour of content.

Another 5 star review!
Absolutely hooked!! I have recommended this podcast to anyone and everyone that loves true crime or that will listen to me rave hehe! It’s made me cuss, yell, laugh, and hang on the edge of my seat. I have found my self singing “rig life” in my head, and belly laughing at the gym along with you guys!! Keep up the awesome work🤍

Very informative
I wanted to listen to a few episodes before writing a review. I love all the knowledge and information given. I also like the hardcore ER episodes because it gives us a view inside your world and why we need more health care professionals like you. Thank you for the entertainment!

Really interesting and informative
Great story-telling and I really enjoy the short series. The one that was done about Gosnell was what got me hooked.

5 Stars must listen
I love this podcast. I recently found it so I’m still at the beginning.. I’m on the Howard Dully part 2 episode and it’s absolutely heartbreaking. The stories themselves blow my mind. On a lighter note the ER stories at the end have me laughing out loud and they are a really good way of ending the episodes. So keep up the good work 😊

Thank you!!! Really really THANK YOU!!
So I work night shift and tonight on my way to work I realize I have a freakin mouse in my vehicle (I live in the middle of nowhere Montana USA) I drive approx 30 miles both ways to and from work. I was stressing the entire 12 hour shift about my ride home and how I was gonna deal with it! I know, I know...it’s only a mouse!! Well I finally get the courage to start my vehicle to warm it up bcuz it’s snowing like crazy out. Long story short I put my headphones in turned ur taintlishious podcast on and before I knew it I was home and I laughed most of the way!! Thank you for distracting me from the killer mouse in my glove compartment and maybe even saving my life 😉!! Keep these coming ladies!! You ladies are hilarious and have great chemistry with ur storytelling abilities!!! Thanks again!!!

The BEST
Seriously one of the best podcasts out there. I LOVE true medical stories and these are done respectfully and with care, and often with a little humor (suture room!) and maybe not even not enough gore lol. The respect and research for mental illness is incredible. I just wish there were more episodes for me to binge!!! But I know there will be! Can’t wait!
jsteve0202
Love it!
You are awesomely objective and subjective in all the right places. So informative but it wouldn’t work without your caring heart. I am a nursing student and so happy to have found this podcast to get me through exam to exam!

Real talk
I really enjoy your podcast when you are interacting with someone. Also, when you are just telling stories. I don’t care for the narrator part of the podcast. It feels like you are just reading a book out loud or article of some sort. Btw Erica sounds hot. Is she?

I absolutely love this podcast! I just found it a few weeks ago and cannot get enough. The first Placebo Effect episode was hilarious!! Thank you for what you do and keep em coming!

So interesting
I can’t stop listening. The dr freedman/lobotomy series was fascinating. Can’t wait to get into 2018-19. I’ve been a nurse for 14 years so I really enjoy the suture room. Some of our stories Sound like fiction but as a nurse I can tell you I have an interesting story every shift. Keep up the episodes coming.

Good material... host is a little much
I really like the content of STAT but the host is a little over the top at times- tries to make jokes that just don’t get laughs, etc.

One of my favorites
This is one of my favorites. I feel like I know Karen. She puts so much of herself into each episode. She is funny, and down to earth. Love it. I’m so glad there’s a few new episodes.
