There are around 14,500 youth in the foster care system in Phoenix, as of 2019. About 800 of these kids are estimated to "age out" this year. This means that once they turn 18, they lose the support of the state, without a family and without the skills to make it on their own. "Aging out" removes basic needs that were once provided for them and will often lead to homelessness. "AscendPHX" provides affordable housing for young who aged out of of foster care. the Non profit organization encourages, support and educate the youth with connections and resources In this Episode, I talk to Isaiah Gomes. He is the co-founder and executive director of AscendPHX.
