Jesus’ disciples reacted to rejection by wanting to punish those who reject God. Jesus, however, demonstrated the proper way his followers should react when rejected.

Elitism, self-righteousness, or a ”holier-than-thou” attitude is something that we all have encountered. Jesus confronts this sinful attitude in his disciples, and we must confront it in ourselves and in our churches.

In sports, a fair-weather fan will support a team when they are doing well, but when the team doesn't meet the fan's expectations, that fan turns against them. Many churchgoers are fair-weather Christians: loving Jesus when things are going well, but rejecting him when he doesn't live up to the follower's expectations.
