Hilarious
So glad I heard about this pod when he was on AYG. So funny and refreshing. Please keep making these.

Great show!
Tom Thakkar is a great comedian. Here he talks with other comics about times they’ve had their feelings hurt related to their comedy or otherwise. Even if you’re not a comedian, it’s very relatable and fun. And you get introduced to some funny people you might not know. Listen to the show, then go support live comedy.

Almost great
The hosts are extremely funny and relatable, which makes the pod a success overall. They are the reason I listen each week. I love the idea of the show, but it isn’t executed particularly well. Sometimes the hosts listen to the playlist ahead of time, sometimes not. Sometimes they have the Jared segment, sometimes not. It’s too inconsistent and off the cuff. The worst part is the audio quality when they listen to the featured music. Half the time, it’s barely audible. The guests often comment on this, as well. Guys, it’s a podcast based on songs, so audio quality is important.

Eff the haters
Lotta people out here hating on a show with hours of content they can access for free. Personally, I dig the concept the format and the conversation. Some episodes they are better at staying on topic than others, but there’s lots of great stuff here to enjoy. Eff the haters
The Real Rivers
Holding the phone up the microphone?
Do they hold the phone up to the microphone when they play tracks? Sounds like it
gusbusss94
Good idea for a podcast, terrible execution
Way too much talking about things other than the bands. Absolutely abysmal audio quality. And just plain unfunny.
Pyrorufus
Not good
Thakkar can’t get through one sentence without saying “uhh” 10 times. And it’s not funny

It’s horses now
My new go-to podcast for Stan Rogers content. These guys can find the humor in any type of music, from the good to The Spin Doctors. I’m late to the game but SBYB is seriously bingeable.

Are you guys still alive???

Hilarious and great tunes!
Such a funny show and helped me realize I liked bands that I thought I disliked!

More content, less fake laughing
After they get past all the giggling, it’s a good show. Lay off all the fake laughter and we’re onto something…

I keep writing reviews that aren’t getting approved
These guys “joke” about being pedophiles, they’re racist, and they spread Covid. Maybe my reviews aren’t getting approved because they’re too mean, but this show deserves it.

Toms are funny
Tom Thakkar is funny because his name is Tom. Tommy McNamara is partially funny because his name is partially Tom. Check out this show about bands.

Toms Know Best
This podcast is the best. It's like reminiscing with your sick bros about music you listen to while playing beer pong in the garage of your friend whose parents are never home.

Makes me feel nice
I’m new to this pod but it’s rad

Miss live music? Listen to this!
I just heard the Hold Steady episode (where I got a shoutout!) and I’m now stoked to hear more. Great hosts and such an amazingly conversational vibe! Great listen!

wow, never thought I’d be proud to call myself a piss freak, but what can i say? the wolf of dog street and the prince of snarkness have provided me with countless laughs and i look forward to hearing their podcast every week. also do more episodes with guy montgomery. thanks.

Finally a podcast about bands
Great concept! Some truly guilty pleasures are covered. Tom is an exceptional entertainer. Tommy is a bit of a soy boy. Have Recine on more to bully Tommy.
Mondo_KingoftheSurf
look forward to this every week
my friend introduced me to the dispatch ep of stand by your band last year. since i have listened to almost every episode and am a patreon. this show is so funny. i prefer the eps that are heavier on comedy than defending the band, but they all hold up. tommy in particular is so quick-witted.

Hilarious
If you love music and comedy, this is the perfect mix. At first I only listened to the episodes about artists I was interested in, but now I’m going back and listening to all the episodes because it’s just too funny.

Best podcast out there
Fun and funny! For music and comedy lovers alike!

Peter Frampton episode
Worst podcast I think I’ve ever heard. First of all it wasn’t funny at all. Secondly, if you’re gonna tell stories about someone, at least be accurate. The story about Peter and Bowie isn’t true. Although he was friends with Bowie, it was Bill Wyman who took him out that night. He’s told that story before.

Rating for a reason
I’m rating this for a reason. Tommy on his knees. I am rating it 5/6 though because I’m the bob seagar episode tommy told me to close my eyes and imagine snow falling which I did. I was driving at the time and died.
IAmZebrog
Meh
I tried to like this podcast but it is too unfocused on the music. Too many personal stories are shared. Too many bad and crude jokes. Preparation to discuss the artist is also quite lacking.

Best pod out
Good hilarious boys

If you like long, rambling convos
...then you’d like this. The hosts don’t spend a whole lot of time talking/debating about the actual subject, so shorter episodes could help. A lot of laughing at their own jokes.

Fantastic
I highly recommend it for any comedy/music fan. Love these guys! Keep it crispy!

My favorite podcast, for sure.

So much fun
Ty to Joel Kim Booster for recommending his defense of Maroon 5 & a great podcast! Tom & Tommy are so funny and good-hearted. They really strike a balance between being critical but in a supremely fair way. Not stuck up or snobby at all.

Laugh-Out-Loud Funny Piss-Freaks
Tom & Tommy are hilarious hosts. First and foremost, I think that's the best way to approach a podcast like this. They are great comics and that humor translates to the witty banter they share while they admit their guilty pleasures or shred a band to pieces. Aside from the laughs, this podcast has also taught me to really think harder about music and why people become attached to certain songs or certain bands. The research and news stories that swirl around the bands presented lends to the funny, but it also opens up a discussion about our society and why we shun or praise the things we do. Incredibly funny and insightful. LISTEN & SUBSCRIBE.

Self-indulgent, boring, and offensive
One host talks 95% of the time and can’t stop laughing at his own unfunny jokes. He also used both homophobic and ableist language within the first 30 minutes of the episode I listened to. Truly awful.

It's just a lot of fun
I'm a grad student and I just think this is one of the best podcasts to just smoke and unwind to. Always a good listen.

does the offer still stand?
awesome podcast even if it was jared’s idea. miss those intro monologues though! hoping you guys do smashing pumpkins and/or dashboard confessional someday. cheers!

Funny And Fun
These guys are funny, and have funny guests. I especially enjoy that Jared fellow. I’ve been cherry picking episodes that I think will be especially funny or interesting, and avoiding ones that feature artists I consider indefensible. The somewhat unfocused style was confusing until I got a feel for who is who, but after listening for a while, it’s a bunch of fun.
Internet
i saw 311 a ton of times when i was a teenager
at the time i thought they kinda rocked. i dont feel like this show can absolve me of that, but it helps me make sense of it all. i wish you would do all the bands from my past i struggle with now. id feel a lot lot *lot* better. <3
happy in the city
Funny!
Never miss an episode. Love the two hosts.

Always makes me laugh
Stand by Your Band never fails to brighten my day. Tom and Tommy are both hilarious and have a great rhythm. The idea behind the podcast is very wholesome. And of course, I love that they portray p*ss heads in a positive light. This podcast has introduced me to great music: Vampire Weekend, They Might Be Giants, Charles Manson. The mark of good music or podcast is how easily one can attach it to good memories. Stand by Your Band is only associated with my best.

Piss Freaks Only
I love this podcast, the banter between the hosts is hysterical no matter what the topic is and you get to learn crazy and hilarious things about bands. For example, the foo fighters thinking AIDS is fake news or the guys from Oasis booing each other at a Spotify session recording. Highly recommended!

So fun!
Very fun podcast. Look forward to it every week. Lots of laughs. Big fan.

Not that good....
Trying way too hard to be funny. Don’t really spend time talking about the subject. Bad in general.

More like LAUGH by your band!
