Empire Records is a comedic / coming-of-age story about a group of record store employees over the course of a single day and their quest to stop the store from being sold to a large chain. In this highly eventful day they laugh, they cry, they have an impromptu funeral and learn about each other along the way. The Killing is the story of career criminal Johnny Clay (Sterling Hayden) attempting one last job before he goes straight and marries his fiancee. Joining his team of misfits for the heist to steal millions of dollars from a racetrack is a sharpshooter a crooked police officer, a bartender and a racetrack teller named George. Of course, because this is a heist flick / film noir, there's always the issue of the femme fatale - and Sherry, George's wife fits the bill perfectly.
