I found this by accident and I’m so thankful I did. Ailin and Hannah describe the barriers, impacts, and contradictions women face when trying to live their vocations fully under the gender hierarchy created by soft complementarianism. They do so with grace and loving hope for the Church they want to see flourish. I am one of those women facing the weariness and disconnection of navigating well-meant “equal but different” church position on gender. It is a gift to me to listen in on a conversation that gives voice to my experience and reminds me that I’m not crazy.

To challenge the status quo on gender hierarchy is noble, and more women need to do it. But this podcast falls flat quickly. To identify a church without naming it and then vaguely allege serious misbehavior “without naming names” leaves it all in a place that sounds more like gossip than telling a true story. I am so sorry for what happened to these ladies, and I have also been harmed by men church leaders which is why a friend sent me this podcast, but I want more! their talk here might help a little but at the cost of fueling negative stereotypes about women.

This is not fluff, it’s well considered, thought provoking and with fantastic story telling. Highly recommend a listen on this one.

This podcast has, in just 2 episodes, brought some deep truths to exposure. I have since left the church, but conversations like these are something I’ve deeply desired. It’s vulnerable, raw and finally women are tired of waiting for the truth to be told. Thank you for sharing so honestly and boldly. We’ve been waiting.
