The Fair Green (Niamh Kindlon - Monaghan) - Wednesday, 24th August 2022
Our special guest on this edition of THE FAIR GREEN is 1997 All-Ireland winner and co-host of SPORTSDAZ FOOTBALL Niamh Kindlon. We chat about the recent Monaghan reunion in Croke Park and Niamh coming into an All-Ireland winning squad as a 15-year-old back in 1997.  As a nine-year-old, she played in a challenge game that inspired ladies football to be formed in the county and she also holds 10 underage county titles with Magheracloone. Niamh talks about basketball, soccer and any sport, the influence of her Dad Maurice who coached her to a first All-Ireland underage title, the heartbreak for Monaghan since with five All-Ireland disappointments. The three-time All-Star also discusses those later games and not being fully part of the starting team, finishing up inter county before injuries forced retirement, her love for her club and how they are just coming out of a very difficult when a sinkhole destroyed their facilities, coaching underage teams with her sister Fiona, and future managerial ambitions. Darren Kelly and Killian Whelan present the season finale featuring six All-Ireland Finals including the Glen Dimplex Croke Park triple header. Schedule: 0:00 - Dillon Quirke Tribute/Condolences 1:35 - Intro and Latest News/Talking points 26:35 - Aoife Prendergast, Miriam Walsh, Brian Dowling - Kilkenny 34:35 - Review - Senior Final - Kilkenny 1-13 Cork 1-12 1:10:40 - Lisa Casserly - Galway Intermediate captain 1:12:15 - Reviews - Intermediate & Junior Finals - Galway 0-13 Cork 0-11, Antrim 5-5 Armagh 0-14 1:27:50 - Maria McLarnon - Antrim joint captain 1:29:55 - Darren and Killian pick their Super 6s A bumper show/movie concluding the end of the inter county year sees Darren and Killian go through so much. But we start by offering our condolences to the family of Tipperary's Dillon Quirke following his tragic passing last Friday. We chat news including Roscommon and Mayo's under 16 All-Irelands, Tyrone's last gasp win over Wicklow in the Nancy Murray Cup, a memorable day in Croke Park, what must camogie do to build on the feel good factor of All-Ireland final day and beat that 30,000 target. Also, we've GAA fixtures clashing with the camogie finals, Paudie Murray's comments on the Sunday Game and Davy Fitzgerald leaving the Rebelette set-up. We chat to the main stars after all the three All-Ireland wins.  And we start with the senior final as Kilkenny won their first O'Duffy Cup since 2020.  Cork's tactics at the start before "running" back into the game, Kilkenny's big scores when needed including Sophie Dwyer's goals, Cork getting in a winning position and then nearly saving it with Aisling Thompson's late strike. The intermediate final was a game of two halves.  Galway made it count in the first half though we wonder did they need a sweeper?  That being said, Cork will be kicking themselves for chances not taken after the break. The Premier Junior Final was the Dervla Cosgrove show (three goals in 84 seconds - four in total) though there were other heroes in Antrim's stunning victory.  What happened to Armagh and can they recover? Finally, it's that time of the year where Darren and Killian pick their Super 6.  Who will be their players of the year and how many did they agree  with, and how many were different.  And what do you think?  Did they leave a main player out? == SPORTSDAZ CAMOGIE returns in the third week of September 2022 Four episodes of THE FAIR GREEN, featuring camogie legends past and present, will air over the next four weeks. Darren Kelly and Niamh Kindlon present the magazine show reflecting on the year, the TG4 All-Ireland senior finals, and the ZuCar minor deciders. Schedule: 0:00 - Latest News/Chat 17:00 - Jackie Cahill (LGFA Commerical/Communications Manager) 22:10 - Review - Meath 3-10 Kerry 1-7 (All-Ireland Senior Final) 50:30 - Aimee Kelly (Laois captain) 52:40 - Review - Laois 1-13 Wexford 1-11 (All-Ireland Intermediate Final) 1:03:35- Review - Antrim 1-13 Fermanagh 1-13 (All-Ireland Junior Final) 1:13:50 - All-Ireland Minor Finals 1:21:20 - Joe Carroll (Cork minor manager) 1:25:15 - Review/Moments/Super 6 We wrap up the inter county year with a marathon broadcast taking in six All-Ireland finals and our much anticipated 'Super 6.'  Darren and Niamh chat first about Monaghan and Waterford teams from 1997 & 1998 being honoured; who are these "people" that inter county managers insist on proving wrong; and what counties sense a missed opportunity at not being involved on All-Ireland Final day. LGFA Commercial and Communications manager Jackie Cahill joined us for a chat before all the action; we hear from Laois captain Aimee Kelly after their intermediate success; and Cork minor boss Joe Carroll as they retained their A crown against Galway. Darren and Niamh dissect the All-Ireland senior final between Meath and Kerry.  Did Kerry allow Meath overwhelm them after a great start?  The Meath brigade continue to mature with a dominant final performance?  Where did the game turn before the two second half goals?  And where to next for both counties? We also look at the intermediate and junior finals, and the minor deciders that saw success for Cork, Monaghan and Clare. And finally, Darren and Niamh wrap up with their moments of the year and the announcement of their respective 'Super 6s.'  Will they agree or are we in for some serious debate?  And who they did leave out that deserved a mention? == SPORTSDAZ FOOTBALL will return in September covering the club championships. SportsDaz Camogie (Thursday, 4th August 2022)
Darren Kelly and Killian Whelan present the magazine show previewing the Glen Dimplex All-Ireland camogie finals. Schedule: 0:00 - Latest News 26:35 - Preview - Antrim vs Armagh (All-Ireland Premier Junior Final) 42:20 - Preview - Cork vs Galway (All-Ireland Intermediate Final) 57:15 - Preview - Cork vs Kilkenny (All-Ireland Senior Final) Darren and Killian discuss the latest news including previewing the Nancy Murray Cup final between Tyrone and Wicklow; we look at Cork and Laois' wins at under 16 level and ahead to this Saturday's games in Kinnegad; Susan Earner steps down as Offaly manager; and the referees have been appointed for Sunday's games in Croke Park. We then move onto those three games starting with Antrim and Armagh at 12pm.  Since the Glens' arrival during the Ulster championship, they've pushed the Orchard in both the Ulster Final and the group stagest.  Jennifer Curry (O'Leary) is chasing a fifth All-Irelanad (eight years after her last with Cork) but Antrim showed steel in getting through Clare the last day after double extra-time. Then its the meeting of Cork and Galway in intermediate.  Neither county can be promoted but for one, their players will.  Both groups have a depth of talent and future seniros will be on show.  It's their third All-Ireland Final meeting at this level (one win each) but they've never met in Croke Park and plenty of options for both Trevor Coleman and Cathal Murray, it promises to be a thriller! Finally, it's the clash for the O'Duffy Cup!  Cork and Kilkenny meet in camogie's biggest game for the first time since 2018.  That was the last time the Rebelettes prevailed while the Cats tasted glory in 2020.  Both teams have been written off this year but found a way to survive.  Can Cork's new management of Matthew Twomey and Davy Fitzgerald reach the Holy Grail, or will Kilkenny overcome changes in personnel on the field to succeed? == SPORTSDAZ CAMOGIE continues next Thursday with the final episode of this series on sportsdaz.ie Cover Photo (c) Hannah Shields - Clonduff camogie club Theme Song (c) josephmcdade.com/music #SportsDaz

Darren Kelly and Killian Whelan present magazine show looking at the Glen Dimplex All-Ireland camogie championships. Schedule: 0:00 - Latest News 23:45 - Review - Intermediate and Premier Junior Semi-Finals 48:35 - Cork 0-15 Waterford 0-10 (Senior Semi-Final) 1:06:25 - Kilkenny 1-13 Galway 0-12 (Senior Semi-Final) Darren and Killian look at the main talking points including no camogie on 'The Sunday Game'; should there be a separate highlights show?; under 16 camogie finals going up against ladies football finals in Croke Park; and is enough being done to promote the games? It's more a review show this week starting with the intermediate and premier junior semi-finals.  Galway's young guns impress while Cork's intermediates prove their metal.  Jennifer Curry (O'Leary) rolls back the years even if Armagh must do more.  And Antrim and Clare throw up a dramatic, classic contest that proves how strong the game is at playing level. Waterford came up just short in their quest for a first All-Ireland Final appearance in 77 years but proved they have the potential to match the big teams.  The Aisling Thompson saga dragging out is something the game can do without but what a performance after her introduction as Cork leave it late before getting back into the All-Ireland senior final. And finally, the All-Ireland champions are out!  Galway come up short agianst a hungry Kilkenny team that left everything on the field.  Are the Cats being underestimated as they are the only unbeaten team left this year?  How come Galway couldn't stick with them?  And should there have been more punishments for incidents surrounding Galway's first half penalty? == SPORTSDAZ CAMOGIE broadcasts every Thursday on sportsdaz.ie Cover Photo (c) Hannah Shields - Clonduff camogie club Theme Song (c) josephmcdade.com/music #SportsDaz

Darren Kelly and Niamh Kindlon present the magazine show previewing the TG4 All-Ireland Football Finals. Schedule: 0:00 - Latest News 25:50 - Preview - Antrim vs Fermanagh (TG4 Junior Final) 44:10 - Preview - Laois vs Wexford (TG4 Intermediate Final) 1:03:50 - Preview - Meath vs Kerry (TG4 Senior Final) We touch on the men's final shoot-out between Kerry and Galway, and some managerial appointments around the country.  We ask why local GAA boards can't leave their schedules free for one day when their county are in an LGFA Final in Croke Park, we talk referees, Aisling McCarthy is an Aussie, Brian Noonan stepping down in Longford and more. It's a four-parter today starting with the TG4 All-Ireland Junior Football Final.  Antrim and Fermanagh have become fierce rivals recently and while the Saffrons will be favourites, the Erne County can't be ruled out.  We look at what to expect in this Ulster derby who meet for the fourth time this year. Wexford have been making a habit of breaking Laois hearts and if they can do it for a third consecutive time, they'll finally get their hands on silverware following semi-final wins in last year's championship and this year's Leinster campaign.   The Slaneysiders have developed a more consistent approach but Laois are dangerous when on form as shown in this year's Division Two. Then, it's on to the senior final between Meath and Kerry.  We've marvelled at the Meath story over the last two years but are Kerry about to write their own tale of success.  History will be made as first time champs the Royals go for back-to-back crowns against the Kingdom seeking to take back their throne after 29 years and claim top spot on the Roll of Honour with 12 wins. == The final episode of this season of SPORTSDAZ FOOTBALL takes place next Wednesday. Darren Kelly and Killian Whelan present the magazine show looking at the Glen Dimplex All-Ireland camogie championships. Schedule: 0:00 - Latest News 24:40 - Galway vs Kilkenny (All-Ireland senior semi-final) 43:10 - Cork vs Waterford (All-Ireland senior semi-final) Darren and Killian look at the game's talking points and news including looking ahead to the Glen Dimplex All-Ireland intermediate and junior semi-finals.  We look back on Ian Brick's term as Kerry manager, Ray Kelly is training young referees, and an article suggesting a family link with ACL injuries will be of interest. All roads lead to Croke Park this Saturday for the senior semi-finals.  Something's gotta to give between Galway and Kilkenny at 5.30pm.  Both teams are unbeaten this year and produced a classic in their group clash three weeks previously in Athenry.  Have Galway learned from that or are Kilkenny even sharper following their quarter-final success over Dublin? Beforehand, Cork and Waterford collide at 3.15pm.  While it promises to be an intriguing contest on the field, off-field matters are dominating the headlines.  We ask why Aisling Thompson's red card against Tipperary hasn't been dealt with yet and should there be tighter deadlines to dealing with disciplinary matters?  Also, there's been great support for Waterford's gofundme fundraiser but should support not already be coming in from the GAA community.
