Halo#1: The Covenant
The Covenant was a powerful interstellar empire in the fictional universe of the Halo video game series. Characterized by its strict theocratic hierarchy and devotion to the worship of the Forerunners, an ancient and technologically advanced race, the Covenant was composed of various alien species, each assigned specific roles within the empire's caste-based society. At the apex of Covenant leadership were the San'Shyuum (Prophets), who served as the religious and political authorities, and the Sangheili (Elites), who led the military forces. Together, they formed the ruling classes of the Covenant. Beneath them were numerous other species, including the Jiralhanae (Brutes), Unggoy (Grunts), Kig-Yar (Jackals), and more, each with its own societal role, such as warriors or laborers. The Covenant's core belief centered on the notion of the "Great Journey," which they interpreted as a path to transcendence through the activation of the Halo Array, a network of ancient superweapons designed to combat the parasitic Flood. However, their understanding of this concept was flawed, as they mistakenly believed it meant godhood for those who activated the Halo rings.Throughout its existence, the Covenant sought to discover and recover Forerunner artifacts, leading to conflicts with non-compliant species, most notably humanity. The Covenant's unity, despite its underlying tensions and discrimination against certain member races, persisted for many years. However, internal power struggles, manipulation by the San'Shyuum, and the revelation of the truth about the Halo rings eventually triggered the Great Schism.During the Great Schism, the Sangheili were cast out, and the Jiralhanae replaced them as the secondary ruling class. This event marked the beginning of the end for the Covenant, as it led to internal strife and a devastating civil war. The empire ultimately collapsed, with its capital, High Charity, overrun by the parasitic Flood, and the death of the High Prophet of Truth. Many member races scattered, and some sought asylum on Earth. In the aftermath of the Covenant's fall, various factions and splinter groups emerged, including the Swords of Sanghelios led by Arbiter Thel 'Vadam and the Banished, a Jiralhanae-led mercenary organization. The Covenant's legacy continued to shape the Halo universe's political landscape, with former member races navigating their post-Covenant roles and alliances.

D&D #38: The Dead Three
The Dead Three, also known as the Dark Gods, were a malevolent trio of deities in the Forgotten Realms campaign setting of Dungeons & Dragons. Comprising Bane, the Lord of Darkness; Bhaal, the Lord of Murder; and Myrkul, the Lord of Bones, they were originally mortal adventurers who aspired to attain godhood. Their ambitions were realized with the help of Jergal, the former Lord of the End of Everything, who granted them his divine portfolios, thereby apotheosizing them. The Dead Three earned their name when they perished during the Time of Troubles in 1358 DR. Bane and Torm killed each other in a cataclysmic battle in Tantras. Myrkul was slain by the mortal mage Midnight, and Bhaal met his end at the hands of Cyric using the sword Godsbane.Their influence did not wane entirely, as cults dedicated to the Dead Three persisted in the late 15th century DR, with one notably prominent in Baldur's Gate. These cults worshipped the fallen deities and sought to enact their dark will, perpetuating their sinister legacy in the world of Faerûn.
