Great show
I wish I could discover this podcast all over again. The structure of the episodes is great, the story is thorough, well-researched, and Erica is insightful and sensitive. So good!

I like the show, butā€¦
I enjoy the variety of stories told on the podcast, but I do think more diligence would be prudent in the research of the towns involved. I know for a fact there have been instances where the geographical descriptions of locations were wholly incorrect, and some historical facts about the time periods have been wrong, too. When such seemingly minor, yet easily verified details are wrong, how accurate are the facts of the crimes being discussed?

Too many commercials
I love this podcast but I canā€™t deal with all the commercials. No other podcaster has this many. Iā€™m not alway near my phone to skip them. Way too many

Emotionless robotic
The stories are good. And the narratorā€™s voice is pleasant but she reads the script with little emotion. Like a robot. She shows more emotion reading the credits.

My favorite southern belle
I still love this podcast so much that I donā€™t mind skipping the ads that come up after every 3-5 spoken words.

The best!
I am from Arkansas and itā€™s not often that I hear a podcast covering a case from my state. I love the south and I am familiar with the unique crimes prevalent here. I love Southern Fried True Crime. Ericaā€™s accent paired with her first hand knowledge of the south is the cherry on top of her excellent story telling.

210
Iā€™ve been a long-time listener and I feel episode 210 is probably some Erica Kellyā€™s best work, second behind The Ballad of Zack and Addie. *chefs kiss and mad respect*

Well-researched and narrated
The episodes of this podcast always seem thoroughly researched and fairly presented. The narrator is one of my favorites. She speaks at a pace that is measured without being stilted, and is easy to understand.

Must Follow
This is actually my first ever podcast, yes I know I am behind the times! Lol Southern Fried did not disappoint! Erica has a great listening voice! I love her take on the episodes and her honesty and wittiness! I also appreciate the way she gives as much honor and respect to the victims and their families as possible, while still giving me the info I need as a True Crime Junkie. I would definitely recommend this show and look forward to every episode!

THE BEST PODCAST<3
Stopppp
Stoppp with the black crime!! Black crime is so common that itā€™s not even interesting. Youā€™re white, Erica. Stick with your own race and let the blacks cover their own cases.

Paid ad free listening
This is a fantastic podcast, but I find myself turning it off during commercial breaks. Is there any way to enjoy it ad free?

Great True Crime Podcast with Southern Charm
Well-researched! Thank you for finding these cases, particularly in the American South. I had never heard of the Dixie Mafia before.

Happy
Iā€™m happy that I listened to the most recent podcasts first. Listening to the early ones and the phony white privilege installed in the episodes was ridiculous. Finally on track and presenting facts and not phony ideology.

Great podcast
Erica Kelly, I would just like to share with you how much I am enjoying your southern fried true crime podcast. I found you by listening to Crime Junkie and The Deck. Which is a blessing because I needed some new binge worthy crime podcast to do for a few days. I love the way you tell your stories, you have such a perfect, soft voice for podcast listeners, and the first time I listened to your podcast. I was an immediate subscriber. Thank you for sharing your knowledge and stories with us. And myself, as a listener, I would like to thank your husband for building you that soundproof room in order for you to do these. Keep up the fabulous work. It is wonderful. šŸ’œNahneešŸ’œ

Slow
I had to listen to this speed up to barely put up with it. I had to stop listening. She just get uppity and self righteous and Iā€™ve had my fill of that nowadays.

More Ads & Opinion Than Content
Itā€™s absolutely appropriate that the podcast circuit, is at long last, fading away. This one is near the top for cringy, opinionated content, and I swear more ads than actual show. If you insist on listening make sure you have access to FF through because every episode has a minimum of FIVE ad breaks and at least 3 ads per block. Thatā€™s on the low end. Erica is constantly throwing in her opinions on things she has no business commenting on-and her opinions are often dead wrong on legality issues. Donā€™t bother with this one, so many better podcasts (for now) to listen to.

Pay option
I sure do wish there was a pay option, rather than listening to the NUMEROUS, and ever-increasing number of ads. Itā€™s difficult to relax, and enjoy the podcast, then bamā€¦itā€™s an adā€¦itā€™s loud, and even sometimes in Spanish, which I donā€™t even understand. Please offer some way to NOT hear the ads. I love the podcast, and have reviewed before.

So great!
Thank you all for your hard work and diligence in having an honest podcast that truly cares about the victims. Erica- love your straightforward personality!

Not as good as it once was
I used to love this podcast. Erica was a true Southerner. I loved her accent, her snarky comments and the stores she told. For the past year I feel like her comments have turned old and mean. Sometimes popularity is not good. Still listening for now but no longer waiting and listening as soon as a new episode drops.

Lots of politics and ads
This was a favorite podcast but the crimes, and especially the victims, have become overshadowed by the narratorā€™s politics and opinions. It also has an excessive number of ads.

Recommend for True Crime Fans
I just discovered this podcast. I love it. Highly recommend to anyone who is a true crime fanatic. I live in the south so southern true crime is fascinating to me and Erica delivers.

LOVE YOUR PODCAST
I have listened to your podcasts for a long time, have enjoyed them. I am curious why you added background music. I find it irritating, it adds nothing to the podcast and I think it is distracting and takes away from the podcast. Enjoy the podcasts but not the background music

Excellent storyteller but lose the Muzak background
Great voice and excellent writing. My only criticism is the song playing in background. Its out of hand. Itā€™s just strange to play it over and over and over under the narration, donā€™t understand why. I am curious since it adds nothing and is irritating (like Muzak, you can ignore it most of the time but other times the tune just plucks at my nerves). Why is it there? Why do you think anyone needs to hear it non stop on repeat? Do you think itā€™s that good? Did one of your kids write it? Do you want to irritate your listeners? Did someone tell you it makes your podcast better? When I canā€™t ignore it I just have to turn this off. I donā€™t get it! I do appreciate your storytelling. I love how racist white listeners just hate freedom of speech when they donā€™t agree with you.

Mackle case
Loved your telling of this incident . My father testified on the hair and fiber evidence for the FBI on this case. He was just remembering it and sharing more details.

Fantastic
Excuse me while I gush for a minute, but Iā€™ve got to gush. Iā€™ve listened to many episodes of this podcast over the last year or two and love all of them. This particular episode my 17 yo daughter was in the car with me as I listened. It was her first time hearing the podcast and I could tell she wasnā€™t thrilled at first. Sheā€™s use to very dramatic tellings of stories/crimes/whatever in the podcast she listens to and Erica isnā€™t like that. Erica is calm with her retelling of what happened in each crime. She is respectful of the victims and isnā€™t sensational about the crimes. She paints a detailed picture of what happened with her words in a soothing, southern drawl. Like buttermilk cornbread and side of gravy at Sunday supper, Erica gives the details that complete each episode without adding unnecessary off the cuff commentary. Within ten minutes I could see that my daughter was immersed in the episode. We stopped it a few times to discuss what to do in different situations discussed, as well as for her to google photos of those involved. All of Ericaā€™s episodes are well researched with sources sited, so itā€™s easy to find things like photos, books, articles, etc. We got home with 20 minutes left, and I fully expected my daughter to jump out of the car to go inside but was thrilled when she wanted to finish the episode. Shes ADHD, and not easy to get her to sit still to do anything once her addy has worn off for the day, but she didnā€™t move a muscle until it was over. Thatā€™s an insanely huge compliment in itself. Iā€™ve never been disappointed with an episode or in how Erica tells the victims story. I suspect I never will be disappointed either.

Love this podcast and Erica!
I canā€™t wait to get into my car Monday morning for my LA commute to work ( I know sounds strange ) because SFTC latest podcast is out. Itā€™s the little things in life that keep me going! Love Ericaā€™s voice and the way she tells the story.

Tried this podcast a few times
Iā€™ve tried listening to this a few times but sheā€™s so political and polarizing. If your podcast is only for raging liberals you should put that in the description.

Weird recent anti-woman slant?
I enjoyed this podcast for quite awhile. Erica has a lovely voice and her storytelling cadence works, even though the episodes are fully scripted. I have been baffled for the pastā€¦year, maybe? by what I have noticed is a fatherā€™s rights/anti-woman bent in the storytelling. I hesitated for months to write this review but episode after episode Iā€™m finding myself questioning motives and the narrative arcs. Of course, these are stories of real people and Iā€™m not sure the women in particular are being served by the gradually revealed bias.

Rampant misogyny on display
First the Rick Lohstroh episode, now the Lee Barnett episode. Erica Kelley does not believe women. There is no such thing as mutual abuse. Rick Lohstroh was arrested seven times for domestic violence against his wife, which he perpetrated in front of his kids. He was even arrested for violence against his son. His fight for custody sounded a lot more like an abuser trying to continue to hurt and control his ex than a loving father who truly wanted to be with his kids. Deborah sounds like a battered woman who did her best to try to protect her kids inside of a sexist legal system that gives preference to men and makes excuses for men, just as Erica does when she blames his violence and abuse on his stressful job. Lee Barnett was also a victim of a sexist legal system which viewed her a hysterical and erratic, which any woman would be if an unfair legal system is taking her baby from her. Ericaā€˜s commentary is idiotic at times. She says that Lee might really have been bipolar (as her controlling ex-husband falsely claimed) and then ā€˜done a complete 180ā€™ after she became a fugitive because ā€˜she got what she wanted.ā€™ Sorry, Erica, that is not how mental illness works. You canā€™t choose to stop being bipolar because you got what you wanted. The fact that Samantha is a happy and healthy adult proves that Lee did the right thing. Going back and forth between a controlling, gaslighting father and her mother would have been very unhealthy for Samantha. Harris was constantly telling Lee she was crazy and trying to convince everyone in Leeā€™s life that Lee was crazy. Thatā€™s a terrible way for a father to treat his childā€™s mother. Of course Erica didnā€™t notice or mention that in the podcast. Lee did the right thing by leaving. Harris deserved to lose his daughter because he was a controlling and manipulative gaslighter who lied about Lee being violent. Overall the podcast has good qualities, but Ericaā€˜s misogynistic opinions are getting too annoying for me to take much more of.

Love her podcast
I really do! BUT this is a podcast and most people listen with some version of earbuds/headphones. Since that is the case WHY are the commercials so much louder??? I am going through menopause and have discovered that if I listen to podcast at night with AirPods, when I wake up for no apparent reason 10000 times, I can focus on the talking and usually go back to sleep. Best thing ever!!! Except YOUR commercials are SO much louder than the show that wakes me up. And that pisses me off!! Why is that a thing??

Best story teller
I love this podcast so much. There is no fluff or silliness. Erica has a calming yet serious voice which I feel is so appropriate when talking about true crime and paying respect to victims. She is an amazing story teller and I so appreciate the research she does. This has been my go to podcast for a couple of years when Iā€™m in between series.

Great, butā€¦
Way to many commercial break!
Rebeccalips
Good though a bit inconsistent.
I love the research Erica puts into these shows, I also love her voice. However, the releases are not consistent and there is sooooooo many commercials that it makes it hard to follow the story along with her.

Too many commercials!!!
I understand you need the financial support, but itā€™s just too many.

Best Podcast
Erica Kelley could read case law out loud and make it interesting! These shows are well researchedā€¦ā€¦I have been personally connected to one of these stories and found out more than I knew myself from this podcast. This is the only podcast I never missā€¦

Great Storyteller
Erica works hard to ensure the victims are not forgotten, she is willing to speak on the ugly parts of our society, and her voice is very soothing despite the nature of the stories.

Went downhill
This used to be one of my go to podcasts until she got preachy and put commercials in every 2 minutes. Itā€™s now unbearable.
Proud trad wife/mom
lots of humanity...
sheā€™s just the bestā€¦i love that she has a point of view and NEVER forgets the victimsā€¦plus she loves Dollyā€¦just like the rest of usā€¦

Greedy
This used to be a go to first podcast for me but all the preaching is a huge turn off. I donā€™t need to be told what to do or how to think. Gave it up for many months because of that holier than thou attitude not to mention very bad covid advice. Thought Iā€™d give it another try but finished for good now due to the beyond excessive amount of commercials and not marking an episode as a two parter - well thatā€™s criminal in itself.
