How YouTube Is Different From Social Media
Have you ever felt like deleting your social media accounts? I definitely have. These apps are designed to be addictive so that you spend as much time as possible on the app. Yes, YouTube is also an app, but there are some major differences. The biggest difference is that the lifespan of a YouTube video is years. The lifespan of a post or reel on social media is probably 24 hours, a week if you’re lucky. I have videos I made years ago that are still generating revenue for me today. It may not seem urgent, but think of the long game. You’re leaving future sales on the table by not starting your channel now. Luckily, I have a course to help you do just that. To watch the video where I share how much I made in 2021 with 6 streams of income, check it out here:https://youtu.be/ZJtH5gcsZqU ( https://youtu.be/ZJtH5gcsZqU) If you're ready to launch your YouTube channel once and for all, head over tohttps://soniateachesvideo.com ( soniateachesvideo.com) and follow me on Instagram at http://instagram.com/sonia_teach (sonia_teach). The Ingredients To A Successful YouTube Channel
When I first started my channel in 2018, I had no idea what I was doing. Now that I’ve figured some things out, I’m going to share some YouTube GOLD! Get ready to take some notes. My recipe for a successful channel looks like this: Create videos that solve a problem for your ideal customer. Create videos that relate directly to your paid offers and services. Create consistently on a schedule that works for you. Be willing to persist, even if you’re not seeing the results you wanted. It takes time for the algorithm to catch up with what your channel is about and who to show it to. There are more tips I can share with you, like the importance of keyword research which you can learn more about in my video here: https://youtu.be/9VZuEesFjW4 (https://youtu.be/9VZuEesFjW4) If you're ready to launch your YouTube channel once and for all, head over tohttps://soniateachesvideo.com ( soniateachesvideo.com) and follow me on Instagram at http://instagram.com/sonia_teach (sonia_teach). Don't Overthink It
Have you ever gotten stuck overthinking and didn’t know how to get past it? Yeah, me too. Many of us get stuck with old habits of perfectionism and can’t get started because we feel like we haven’t prepared enough. My advice to you is to just get started. Stick to your strategy, but don’t get caught up in making sure everything is perfect. If it helps, consider it a draft. You can always go back and change things later. I challenge you to create a video today without overthinking, then tag me on IG @sonia_teach so I can see it and support you! Busting Some Common Myths
In this episode, we will be busting some myths around starting a YouTube channel. Myth #1: You have to post a new video every week, preferably twice. Many experts will tell you that you need to be posting on your YouTube channel twice a week, especially when you’re getting started. Isn’t that pretty overwhelming? That approach can work because it’s consistent for your audience and you’ll get better at it the more you do it. However, often the people that recommend this either have a lot more time on their hands and/or have a team helping on the strategy and production end. Myth #2: You need fancy equipment to get subscribers. Or on the other side, you can just use your phone. Fancy equipment is expensive, can be tricky to use, and isn’t a guarantee that you’ll attract subscribers. It can easily get overwhelming and be another hurdle to overcome before starting your channel. On the other hand, just using your phone can work, but videos take up a lot of storage space so your phone will fill up quickly. I recommend a webcam, and it doesn’t have to be a fancy one. Myth #3: You need to script out every word of your videos. If you want to, that’s fine, but personally it distracts me when I can tell that someone’s reading from a teleprompter. I recommend having an outline to keep on track If you're looking for more guidance on how to plan your videos, I made a video on my channel all about the behind the scenes of my planning process, which you can check out here:https://youtu.be/_fNoc99IIy0 ( https://youtu.be/_fNoc99IIy0) If you're ready to launch your YouTube channel once and for all, head over tohttps://soniateachesvideo.com ( soniateachesvideo.com) and follow me on Instagram at http://instagram.com/sonia_teach (sonia_teach). Why I Left Teaching
In this episode, I share my story of how I quit teaching and later went on to launch a YouTube channel that makes me money in my sleep! My first year of teaching was full of a lot of health problems. I was extremely stressed and anxious and in a lot of pain. I went and got my Master’s in Special Education hoping that it would go better, but it didn’t. I tried tutoring online, which was better, but I turned out to have a chronic connective tissue disorder that was causing all of my pain and working a “regular” job, or even sitting still for any length of time, was not an option. What I ended up doing was starting a YouTube channel and a course to help teachers build their own tutoring businesses online. It was a slow start, but when during 2020 my channel blew up and I was selling digital products in my sleep. Now I want to empower you to do the same thing for your business! My Mission
My mission with this podcast is to teach you how to start a YouTube channel, even if other methods haven’t worked for you. I want to help entrepreneurs shift away from hustle culture and be able to sell more courses and digital products passively so that they can be more present with their families and clients. Entrepreneurs with me who left their jobs because of burnout or health issues can’t afford to burn out with our own businesses too. Creating an evergreen video channel means you don’t have to show up on social media all the time.
