This is by far the most entertaining and interesting music podcast out there. I love hearing Todd and Lina discuss their takes on these songs!

The hosts have great chemistry and they squeeze a lot of fun discussions out of a pretty silly premise for a podcast

Todd and Lina make this show highly entertaining with their view on the songs, as well as the albums and artists related to them. While some of the tropes of the show become evident early on (I feel like you could make a whole drinking game on Lina’s phrases) they do not put a damper on the quality of the show. Guests can provide different and funny insight into the match ups. The only drawback to the format this show takes is that we NEED a fifth question! Four just leaves to many draws! I also recommend their Patreon for their music related media reviews.

Song vs Song makes my little music nerd heart happy. It’s got the vibe of a bunch of friends having a chill night in and debating their favorite music, but also having the expertise of research and pop culture history to make the arguments even more intriguing.

Bobby helms existed into 1958 and there’s a quiz of his 3 hot 100 proper hits and everyone gets jingle bell rock but nobody gets the others (borrowed dreams, the fool and the angel) at all

The best music podcast that asks the most important questions

Recently discovered this podcast and i was really intrigued the first time i scrolled through the videos and saw “Welcome To The Jungle vs Enter Sandman”. ever since then i’ve been closely following the podcast and discovering music id never even heard of before, amazing energy between Alina and Todd and the guests they occasionally bring in always seem to feel right at home in their territory. 5 STARS!!

Free wheeling, informative, and entertaining discussions about a wide range of music. Todd and Alina are both incredibly knowledgeable, as well as hilarious and very engaging to listen to. This has quickly become my favorite music podcast!

Absolutely love Song vs Song! I’m already a very music trivia inclined person and I feel like Todd and Alina are kindred spirits in that regard. I’m learning so much about songs I thought I knew and they give me information about songs I wasn’t that aware of. Love the format, love this show. Absolute new favorite ❤️

As a music nerd with a compulsive need to argue, this podcast fills the hole for the argumentative-music-nerd friends I wish I had. Come for the music history, stay for William Shatner, Weird Al, + the cat-themed song parodies. As a bonus, it's also introduced me to a lot of really great music.

If you are a human being with a heatbeat and auditory senses you need to listen to this podcast. It’s two amazing people arguing “highly researched” sides as to which song is “objectively the best”. The ever shifting genres are sure to line up with your musical taste for at least half a dozen episodes, and for the ones you’ve never heard before they’re worth a listen.

This podcast is great for relaxing and hearing new perspectives on music in an informal and humorous way. The cohosts Todd and Alina play off of each other very well, and their commentary makes each episode very entertaining, even if you don’t have very strong feelings for either song. Fantastic for fans of Todd’s YouTube channel who want to hear his thoughts on music in a more off-the-cuff way than his regular videos, or anyone who likes hearing friendly discussion about media

Good premise for a show, but the hosts ruin it. Annoying to listen to and they find ways to shoehorn politics and Trump into it. I don’t care what someone’s politics are just tired of it. I don’t listen to music podcasts to hear unrelated politics squeezed in.

I love "Todd in the Shadows," but this isn't for me. It might be for you if you're into the whole "Dude, we're just like two friends hanging out or whatever, saying whatever pops into our heads about random stuff" approach to podcasting. I am not. Todd can make funny, thoughtful, focused content, but this is not it.

I discovered this podcast since I’ve been following Todd since he used post reviews on Blip. If you like music podcasts that don’t take themselves too seriously, this is worth checking out!

I really want to like this show. The concept is fantastic and I love seeing their new picks each week. But for the life of me, I can’t understand having a music podcast and not playing even ten seconds of either song. You can use instrumental/strings covers/8-bit/midi versions, guys. I don’t think they’re maximizing the potential of an audio format.

Great concept, charmingly executed. I’ve enjoyed Todd in the Shadows for years now, but only started listening to this podcast earlier this year. It always makes me smile. I like that the songs are chosen from a variety of decades.

I love Dany's laugh on this podcast (content is great too!). If I meet him someday, and can make him laugh like that in real life, I will feel #blessed.

No one: Dany: “Soup to nuts” Love this podcast; feels like I’m having a conversation with two friends about my favorite music! I also learn a few things about music and pop culture history!

Todd’s YouTube videos are always well researched and interesting. I this is kind of podcast that would be right up my alley but for some reason it’s just not doing it for me. Their points are thin, they stretch basically nothing into 45 min. Danny (I think that’s his name) is constantly interrupting Todd which is grating. He also says “and let me tell you why” about 5 times per episode it seems. Example “you’re wrong and let me tell you why...” once you notice this you can’t un-notice it and it will drive you crazy. I know this is just a podcast of their opinions but I guess their opinions just aren’t that interesting to me. Just go watch Todd’s YouTube channel if you like music history and more informed points. It’s better in basically every way.

I love these musical comparisons, and each episode leaves me with a satisfying take on each song vs. each song. Dan & Todd have that "friends in real life" chemistry a lot of other podcasts don't have. I look forward to every new episode! LONG LIVE SONG VS. SONG!!!

this podcast is not only informative, but super fun too. the format the hosts have developed is really unique and engaging. come for todd but stay for dany talking about being old and shatner impersonations...but seriously the dynamic between dany and todd is really nice to listen to.

The first episode started out good, then they made several comments about the president. Keep your political opinions to yourself if you are doing a music podcast. They lost me.

Found this from the Todd in the Shadows channel and immediately listened to all the episodes. I’ve learned a lot and told my friends about it. I love to listen to it while I’m practicing my guitar scales.

These two play off each other so well it’s insane 10/10 podcast if you’re into two hilarious guys just talking about music. And though they talk about having no black listeners take it from one black fan these guys rule.

Recently stumbled across this podcast and immediately fell in love. These are the conversations my buddies and I used to have sitting on the hoods of our cars or around camp fires. I mean, we had OTHER talks too, but this was the area where we might have been halfway qualified to offer an opinion because we all loved music. Also reminds me of a gimmick my favorite radio station would do back in the day called “Rock Wars”. The DJ would pick and play two songs and have the listeners call in and talk up and vote on their favorite. It was fun then and it’s fun now.

... at least Beatles 60’s/70’s history. Maybe it’s just this episode, but what they have to say here is mostly mundane and very thin. They seem to be shrugging their shoulders when neither can come up with a banality to throw out in answer to many of their self-posed questions. If you don’t already know the generalities they talk and more about it’s hard to see why you would care enough about these songs to listen.

This is a fun hang. Love people digging into minutiae.
