In this episode of Somewhere in the Skies Classics, Ryan speaks with Brian Bethel, the man behind one of the earliest and most chilling accounts of the Black-Eyed Kids. In 1996, Bethel was sitting alone in his car in Abilene, Texas, when two young boys approached asking for a ride. Something about them filled him with overwhelming fear, then he saw their completely black eyes. Bethel recounts the terrifying encounter, how his story spread across the early internet and helped ignite the BEK phenomenon, and what he believes may lurk behind those dark, soulless eyes.Patreon: http://www.patreon.com/somewhereskiesByMeACoffee: http://www.buymeacoffee.com/UFxzyzHOaQSend us a voicemail: https://www.speakpipe.com/SomewhereSkiesPodSubstack: https://ryansprague.substack.com/All socials and books: https://linktr.ee/somewhereskiespodEmail: [email protected]Opening theme song by SeptembryoClosing song by Per KiilstofteCopyright © 2026 Ryan Sprague.
