As Founder and Director of Lighthouse Foundation for homeless youth, Susan began caring for vulnerable young people in her own home more than 30 years ago, following a life changing experience as a volunteer in a Sri Lankan orphanage. In recognition of her dedication and work, in 2002 Susan was inducted as a Member of the Order of Australia, in 2009 she received Melbourne’s highest accolade and was our Melburnian of the Year. In 2012 she was inducted into the Victorian Honour Roll of Women for her significant achievements and contribution to the Victorian community. Susan’s mission is to change the way Australia looks at the issue and consequences of youth homelessness moving towards a more therapeutic approach on their journey to recovery.  Kirsty Buchanan Kirsty is the Head of Marketing and Recruitment at Lighthouse Foster care. Her 20 + years of marketing, strategy and relationship skills are helping Lighthouse find new foster carers and expand their foster care program. But how would you feel knowing that there was a lethal poison that could inflict unspeakable pain and suffering on your beloved pets, pests and other native animals?  In this episode, we speak with Alex Vince, the Campaign Director of Animal Liberation who has cofounded the Coalition of Australian's Against 1080 Poison.  Sodium Fluoroacetate, commonly known as 1080 poison is a odourless and tasteless poison used for the intention to kill native animals that are seen as 'pests'. Women-only spaces have been around for centuries. In various cultures and times in history, some forms or another of female seclusion have been accepted or even encouraged. Today we ask, are women-only spaces under attack? and is it sometimes ok to exclude in the name of inclusion? We speak with Sall Grover, founder and CEO of 'Giggle' - a female-only app, made by Women for Women. Giggle is a platform where women can connect with one another. Share their thoughts and opinions, search for accomodation, meet new people and more! Recently, the App has come under fire for its lack of inclusion of members in the Trans Community. As a "female-only" platform, Giggle permits Trans-Men on the app, but not Trans-Women, and uses biometric gender verification to do so. In this episode, we learn more about the creation of Giggle, the importance of having women-only spaces, and we discuss whether sometimes exclusion is ok. The Israeli-Palestinian conflict is one of the world’s most enduring hostilities that has roots in the historic claim to land which lies between the eastern shores of the Mediterranean Sea and the Jordan River.  Gaza is a self-governing Palestinian territory that is ruled by the Palestinian militant group Hamas. Various attempts have been made to resolve the conflict as part of the “Israeli-Palestinian Peace Protest” but things have recently escalated in mid-April 2021, resulting in the deaths of many civilians and children.  We sit down with Tracy Alexander, an award-winning Australian journalist residing in Israel to discuss the history and current events of the ongoing Israeli-Palestinian crisis.  Find out more about our guest speaker: Tracy Alexander is a multi-skilled award-winning journalist with an academic background in cognitive psychology and journalism.  In Israel, Tracy anchored prime-time daily news and current affairs program, "Perspectives," at i24 News. Born and raised in Australia, Tracy reported for the Nine Network's national breakfast show, The Today Show, as well reporting for Channel Nine's 6pm evening news bulletin, prior to which she worked as a video journalist for Southern Cross Ten's program "Weeknights" and as a radio newsreader on Southern Cross Austereo's Triple M and Fox FM news.  Tracy began her journalism career working on several documentary projects by the former CEO of Film Australia and the former Head of Factual Programming at the ABC; notably the feature documentary, Rewriting History, which aired on SBS in 2012.
