Normalizing the Unacceptable: A Critique of Michael’s Shift
I once looked forward to Michael’s program as a daily source of insight and commentary. However, as the political and social climate has grown increasingly complex, I find myself growing frustrated with what I perceive as a superficial treatment of personality disorders in public figures, and a tendency to normalize behavior that warrants sharper scrutiny. Holding power to account, including identifying and naming harmful patterns of conduct…is a core responsibility of journalism. Lately, Michael’s commentary appears to have drifted toward a perspective more sympathetic to MAGA ideology, and I’ve noticed his analysis is at times shaped by blind spots consistent with white privilege, resulting in commentary that feels insufficiently critical of those in positions of power.
