Katie Melendez was sworn in as Vista City Council member in December of 2020, at only 26 years old! She strives to represent her constituents as best as she can, and makes herself readily available and responsive to her community. On this episode of the SBSD podcast, we dive into Katie's upbringing and her role as a social worker, and how that all led to her running for city council.

Committed to her community, Corinna has always emphasized the need to give back and provide for her community. Wanting to do her part, Corinna found herself running for the city council. In 2018, she was elected as Vista City Council member and continues to do her part to represent Vista's people. She shares with us the struggles and obstacles she had to face on her path to become a council member and how that process has shaped her as a person.

She runs Tranquil Trims, a dog grooming rehab business that focuses on difficult dogs. She's also a talented performer who goes by the stage name Lady Ivy.
