You're either on the bus or off the bus,..now get in the van! Welcome to the first experiment in consciousness alteration by means of punk rock philosophy and Dead mind melting. This episode Brian and Christian explore the DIY ethic in both the example of the Dead and also the punk scene. Then we talk to our friend, Jason Kooken, who (like us) grew up in the 80s hardcore scene but also discovered a love of the spirit and music of the Grateful Dead. Finally, Jeremy Dean (who made his name doing designs for Jade Tree records and many  90s hc bands and now finds himself working for Dead and Co.) stops by and chats about the initial rush and danger of the early punk days and how he fell in with the Dead family. We take many side roads along the way, but the view is always better from there, no?

And so it begins,...welcome to the introductory episode of our ongoing adventure, wherein we'll be exploring the mystifying and multitudinous connections between the worlds of the Grateful Dead and their followers and the punk rock movement. Both Brian and Christian came up in the punk scene in the 80's. and somewhere along the way, found a love for the Grateful Dead. And they're not alone...there's lots of us out there. Maybe you're one. This episode  is our origin stories and also a preview of what's to come, the kinds of interviews, segments and conversational deep dives you can expect on future shows.
