My guest today, Chaplain Monica Lawson, is a woman who has made history by becoming the first active-duty African American female Chaplain to be promoted to the rank of colonel.  During our time together, she shared how joining the Army to pay for her college tuition has led to a 34-year military career, which was never her plan!
When she speaks, you hear a woman who is enthusiastic about honoring God, loving her family, and leading by example.  In spite of her many accomplishments, which she credits to God, she is also a woman who values community or sister-friendships, laughing, and is confident enough to acknowledge the accomplishment of others which she made a point to do when she shared that Retired Chaplain (Col.)  Geraldine Manning an African American woman who served as an Army Guard and Reserve chaplain, was previously promoted before her although she is the first active-duty chaplain to be promoted to colonel.
Her story is truly one that follows the scripture...You can make plans, but the Lord's purpose will prevail.  Proverbs
I can't wait for you to hear her story!
