Dee Thompson: Steadfast in the Storm
The metaphor of storms, as described in the account of Jesus calming the storm on the Sea of Galilee, is a powerful illustration for the trials and tribulations faced in life. It emphasizes the temporary nature of difficulties and the importance of faith in Christ. When we put our trust in Jesus, we are not only able to weather any storm, but we can emerge stronger on the “other side: TAKEAWAYS Storms don’t come to last, they are temporary Trust what God said to you before the storm!  We are stronger than the storm! Call out to Jesus in your distress, He is near, He hears, and He will respond Storms can cause you to question if Jesus cares for you but remember that He never changes. Jackie Pitt: Healing Mother-Daughter Relationships
The dynamics of mother-daughter relationships are indeed a tapestry of emotions and experiences. And my guest today, Jacqueline “Jackie” Pitt, the author of “Mothers and Daughters: Their Story, Their Way, Only They Can Tell” knows firsthand what it is like to navigate the complicated, beautiful, and challenging relationship that sometimes exists between mothers and their daughters. Her story highlights the significance of acceptance in the face of adversity—recognizing the limitations of her mother's presence, the strength required to release the weight of undue responsibilities and the liberating power of forgiveness. Her story is one that many women can relate to but also one that can inspire hope and healing in others facing similar situations. I invite you and your girlfriends to listen to this episode about one of the most important relationships that you will ever have! GUEST TAKEAWAYS Trauma can leave an imprint on your life. A person can’t give you what they don’t have. The journey with her daughters has been a beautiful because it has allowed her to see herself and opened her eyes to what her mom experienced and want to apologize to her mother. Don’t waste today on what happened yesterday. Healing a mother-daughter relationship is not one size fits all. Jessica Tee: When God Makes a Course Correction
The journey of Jessica Tee is a testament to the transformative power of passion and purpose. Initially on a path to medicine, her volunteer work inspired a pivot to education, leading to the creation of what is now known as The Pretty Powerful Foundation. This organization is dedicated to empowering young women, helping them recognize their value, and providing a nurturing environment where they can flourish. It's a reminder that sometimes, the most impactful life changes come from unexpected experiences and a willingness to follow one's heart. Jessica’s vision for the future is that she will leave a legacy of pretty powerful leaders who know how to embrace their spirituality, femininity, and how to navigate life. CONVERSATION HIGHLIGHTS: High school for her and her friends was wonderful but could have been so much better with mentorship. It’s hard for children to learn when they are dealing with inner turmoil. Providing tools to regulate the emotions of children helps. Representation Matters! The young women have taught her how to be MORE empathetic. Nicole Spain White: The Heart of a Caregiver
On today’s podcast, I have the extreme pleasure of talking to one of my favorite people, Nicole Spain White. She is a woman who wears many hats: she is a wife, mother, sister, friend, capacity coach, my co-pastor, caregiver, and passionate teacher of Christ's word. In honor of National Caregiver's Day, which is celebrated on the 3rd Friday in February, Pastor Nicole and I had a candid discussion about the challenges, lessons, mistakes, and joys she has experienced as a caretaker for her now 25-year-old daughter, who she calls her greatest teacher, and both her parents before their deaths. What I learned from our conversation is that caregiving is an act of love and service, caregivers will make mistakes and it is important to ask for help and engage in healthy self-care practices. If you know someone who is among the 53 million unpaid caregivers in the United States, will you commit to seeking out ways in which you can help those who are selfishly loving others who aren't able to fully care for themselves? Because caregivers need care too! For state specific caregiver resources, please click on the following link: https://www.caregiver.org/connecting-caregivers/services-by-state/ So please grab your favorite cup of coffee or tea and join me for this enlightening conversation. Conversation Highlights Her family had to trust God every step of the way. Caregiving involves the emotional, physical, and mental well-being of an individual. Give yourself and the person you are caring for grace. Ask for help! Her greatest joy has been able to serve the ones she loves!
