Compelling!
I am halfway through the second season and can’t wait for each new episode. Great writing, love the music and sound design, thoughtful hosts. Good stuff from WFYI. I look forward to many more seasons to come.

Gripping
I “binged” on Season 1. Easy to follow, the Narrators and music are nice to the ears.

Compelling stories. Season 1 blew my mind and I can’t stop thinking about it.

Great reporting!
As an Indianapolis resident I found this story fascinating and scary. I think anyone will find this unbelievable.

Fascinating podcasts
I am absolutely craving more from these two. As a transplant to Indiana season one was fascinating, but the former DOC worker in me was intrigued by season two. I can't wait for more. Well researched and easy to listen to. By far my favorite podcast.

Good. Not great.
If I could review the first few episodes, I would have given it five stars all day long... But the last few episodes were nothing more than meaningless fluff. They introduce you to a couple of new individuals that were affected by what happened. But it didn’t advance the narrative at all. It felt like they were just doing it for the sake of filling content requirements. So my recommendation would be to listen to the beginning of the season. But once you get to the part where it turns to complete drivel(and you’ll know it when you get there), just unsubscribe and move onto the next podcast.

5 Stars
Mind blowing, thorough, and informative. As a registered nurse, I tend to dislike medical oriented podcasts because they fail to adequately convey the science involved in unethical medical events. This is 10x better than I anticipated it would be. I am eagerly awaiting a new topic and season #2!

If it Ought to Be a Crime, criminalize it!
Excellent podcast. Covered many aspects of the story, including the criminal code at the time Dr. Cline started and when the results were discovered. I respect the drive to change the law when it doesn’t represent current society. We need a LOT more of this energy applied. Thanks for including that aspect of the siblings’ and their families’ living their situation.

Can’t wait for the next season
Such a crazy story. Great reporting. It was amazing how many people were willing to share their stories. I didn’t feel like the reporters had an agenda, just presenting all the different reactions to this insane situation. Binged it in a weekend!

Bingeworthy!
Once I got started, I binged the whole podcast to the end. It’s really an amazing story. Dr Cline obviously has some underlying issues. For a Christian to behave this way, and then try to deny it, is awful. He is obviously a small and unfulfilled person. May he live the remainder of his life being dogged by his angry offspring.

Jaw Dropping Episodes
My jaw was on the floor this whole season! Great job!

I had infertility
I had infertility in the late 80’s and early 90’s. My husband and I worked for 5 years with an infertility specialist in the Twin Cities. I was involved in support groups where I learned about who was the best doctors in town. I found the best but only after learning I was with one of the worst. You don’t know what you don’t know. Infertility makes you desperate and a little insane. What a terrible thing Mr. Cline did. He believed he was God. Thank you for your amazing reporting.

Really well done
Reporting, structure, music and everything was captivating yet appropriate and sensitive.

Boring
Every episode is the same thing. The same intro the same explanation. It’s like ya we know, we’re listening and following along, stop taking like 10 minutes explaining the plot of the podcast. I tried to like it but it was too repetitive. Next.

Outstanding
Fascinating story, well researched, great interviews and the journalists know what they are doing. Highly recommend if you like true stories.

Horrid story amazing storytelling
These were some of the most interesting people to hear from and one of the most interesting stories I have ever heard. The hosts, in particular the woman host, a bit bland.

Upsetting take on donor children
It’s an interesting medical malpractice story, but Jacoba should have spent more time in therapy before becoming the central voice. A lot of the comments she personally makes (“why are we here” “God shouldn’t have let this happen”) kind of magnify a distorted opinion on the thousands of donor children born every year in a very hurtful way to those children. Every day people learn they are donor children and it’s a hard enough thing to learn. Was there not a way to do this podcast without amplifying such a destructive sub message?

Captivating
The story was captivating, researched and reported well, and kept me very interested. It was hard at times to listen to the hypocrisy of these families that were angry at Dr.Cline when they lied to their children for years. I wish the reporters would have stuck to the journalistic integrity they touted and challenged those families as well. That’s why the podcast lost a star for me. I would, however, absolutely recommend this podcast!

A Very Sick Man
Loved the podcast! I definitely agree with the daughter that what he did was r*pe. The mothers consented to anonymous donor sperm. The mothers did not consent for the doctor to be the father. Therefore, their consent is thrown out the window because of the abuse of authority and deceit. I don’t understand how anyone can think otherwise.

Such a great boredom buster!
This is a well researched, high-quality, intriguing podcast about an interesting situation. What Cline did is very wrong, even if the women were unsuspecting, it doesn’t mean he should’ve betrayed them behind his back. Even if they did get healthy children that they love, they were conceived out of lies and unethical rule breaking.

Absolutely fascinating and well done! I can’t wait for more.

Interesting and well done
Production quality is great. An interesting look at a historic gray area that makes you consider law and ethics. It seems there was a darker thrill here and this same scenario has been replicated by other male doctors. I’d love to hear psychologists weigh in.

Sorry but not so sorry
I am about 4 episodes in and I have to stop. I can’t help but think that the reporters are asking the wrong questions. These children, what kind of father did they prefer? A drop out, an addict, someone with health problems, an abuser? Their moms CHOSE to have a donor. do you think these mothers would have chosen a tall, athletic, healthy, doctor as a donor? I think so. There are families with real tough issues out there. These are definitely 1st world entitlement issues. If today’s law says it is illegal, then there is a punishable offense.

Sick helps me to health
For medical reasons I have been instructed to exercise. It has been encouraging to me to walk while I’m listening to these podcasts; 3.5 miles 2 days ago, 2.4 miles today! It’s a fascinating subject presented very well - a mystery, moral questions, and lessons of life. Oh my, what will I do when the series ends? Terry Noffsinger

Absolutely Incredible
I started listening to this podcast as I drew because I was finding that videos were getting in the way of my focus but I still wanted some audio to listen to. I had never listened to a podcast before and didn’t really know where to start. I tried a few podcasts before this one and found them all to be incredibly boring, I couldn’t even get through the first episode of most of them. And then I stumbled across Sick. I was hooked just by the description and binged the whole thing over the course of 2 paintings. I cannot recommend it’s enough, the entire story is laid out beautifully and the people feel completely real, something other podcasts just can’t seem to grasp. I’m sad to see the first season go but am looking forward to another if it is made. You won’t regret giving it a listen.
