Snarky and not as smart as they think they are
Very snarky, boring and really doesn’t say anything of importance - just follows what is currently popular but doesn’t stand for anything.

Thought provoking and fun
Enjoyed the chemistry and points provided. Massive BTS fan myself and appreciate (and applaud) Lainey’s enthusiasm and insights. Along with the undeniable glory a Grammy carries, I also believe such an international trophy might be seen to be on the same level as an Olympic medal, something that could grant them a military service exception.

Gave it a chance
I wanted to like this, but episodes go on far too long. If I’m listening to a pop culture podcast longer than an hour, it has to be way more entertaining.

Gross
It felt really gross to listen to the go on and on about Taylor Swift being a Nazi!?!!? The. heck. George Soros is a polarizing personality. I know a lot of people who have issues with his politics that aren’t “invoking neo-nazis”. What you are saying is not brave, It is hateful and false propaganda.

Not a great podcast
Too many pauses and some of the conversation seems too stilted. Both hosts seem entirely too satisfied with what they think and what their opinions are. Smug is a good word for them.

My new fave
I love this podcast so much I don’t care that it’s egregiously long. It’s juicy and a little gossipy, but it’s smart. It’s dinner and dessert. Love!

Sure
I’m sorry but I hate his Duana says “sure”. I think Lainey called her out on it as well. Aside from this I actually really like their insight. They are pretty fair and I’ve learned a lot from listening to both of them

They use too many words
I work in the industry myself and enjoy their insights. However, both of them use 3-5x the amount of words needed to explain themselves. And more than that, once they’ve established a firm opinion in a topic, they make the strange decision to have the same conversation about their opinion 2-3x before moving along to another part of the show. It becomes incredibly repetitive. Tighten it up ladies! Example: A normal person: Brad Pitt is a character actor trapped inside a leading man body. These two: Here’s the thing about Brad Pitt, and you know I love Brad Pitt (4 minute aside about her love of Brad Pitt that adds nothing to the conversation), anyway back to my point, here’s the thing about Brad Pitt (3 minute back and forth about dogs in the studio). And the thing about Brad Pitt is (7 minutes on his relationship with Paltrow) he’s really a character actor trapped inside a leading man body.

Love it
I’ve read Lainey Gossip for years, and I’ve listened to this podcast every now and then. But now? Now...I’m so glad that I’m super behind so I can listen to them every single time I’m in my car. I love their insights, their discussions, their friendship, and their Heads Up game playing. (I totally play along with y’all, and you both give good clues.) So buckle up and listen in!

No shame in the name
I have read Lainey Gossip forever and love it! I read back when Lainey was still working at Covenant House. I love the stories and how The ladies talk about everything from salaries, racism, sexism to waxing your goods. People roll their eyes when you give them the name, but I have learned more from these women then from any book!

Work insight + social anthropology
I’ve been listening for two years now, and as time’s gone by it’s one of the few I’ve reliably stuck with. Fascinating feminist insight on the work behind the public face of celebrity, movies, social media, etc- but also work insight that applies across so many fields, especially for women. Dissecting “Celebrity” is essentially sociology from within- it says so much about what we value, and why. Of course their style won’t be for everyone, it’s somewhat rambling and conversational, but it appeals to me.

Fun look behind the scenes of celebrity culture!
I love hearing people talk about the details behind their jobs, so what’s better than hearing about the work behind the insane world of celebrities and entertainment? The Ellen Pompeo episode is one if my favorites and I listen to it when I need to feel pumped for the day and GO GET PAID. PS: I am not a fan of some of the podcastsr interview episodes but overall this podcast is a solid series. I look forward to it every week! Keep up the great work!

Fun, but...
I realize this is petty but I cannot get past the way the hosts say the word “because.” It’s like “bUh- cuz”- and it’s constant. Rarely make it to the end of an episode BECAUSE of this.

Show Your Work
I love Lainey Gossip; I read it for its smart takes and tone. I was seriously disappointed by my first Show Your Work because it was clear that the hosts had done no homework on the topic of Shepard Smith quitting on air at Fox. To discuss this without noting that attorney general William Barr had lunch the day before with Rupert Murdoch is a serious omission. You left out essential context—he was clearly forced out. Trump sent Barr to visit the king of Fox. Guy quits the next day. Moreover Smith is not going to be a hot property on the journalism market. Fox people don’t translate to normal TV.

Nope
Self-importance has two names and they are Duana and Lainey. The smug judgy pseudo-intellectual woke snobbery of these two hosts brings any momentum to a grinding halt. It’s like they decided one day “let’s give the world the gift of us”....no thank you. Stick with your website.

I cried in Walmart parking lot
Just finished the Taylor Jenkins Reid episode, and I dissolved into relieved, empowered tears. This meant so much to me as a working Mom who LIVES for her work. I had amen-ed like 50 things, but her description of how she’s not the “play on the ground with Legos” Mom made me feel so normal. That exact situation has happened to me. I’ve been berating myself and haven’t found many other Moms to relate to on this. Thank you thank you for making me feel seen!

Show your work podcast
Just a few critiques: Lainey giggles too much and swears way more than necessary, also please stop referring to Prince Louis as “Trey” - very disrespectful.

This is probably the first podcast I've ever recommended.
As a fan of details myself, I really appreciate all of the details that go into this Podcast. I love the insight and I love the analogies. This might actually be the first podcast I've ever reviewed/recommended and it is based solely on how much I enjoy it. Keep up the great work ladies!! :)

Interesting behind the scenes discussion in media
It’s good and get insight and i value the opinions but it can be a little too long.

The first podcast I recommend
I am the friend/coworker/passerby that is always walking around with my headphones in, usually listening to a podcast. When friends ask me for a recommendation of what to listen to, my first suggestion is always Show Your Work. The conversations have affected how I think about my job and how I work. An episode is like the best vent/gossip/advise conversation with your friends/co-workers. Hearing Lainey and Diana’s experiences and insights have made me better at my job. Highly recommend!

Relevant to work outside entertainment
I really love the concept and content of this podcast. It’s fascinating to hear about the inner workings of the entertainment industry. I find their observations about work also apply outside entertainment as well. A couple points of feedback: discussions can get very long-winded, and the delivery is sometimes hard to listen to. Duana’s delivery especially is very choppy and she puts so...much...space...between...her...words!

the smartest women around
Lainey and Duana are incredible, insightful, incisive, and absolutely the go-to source for any and all celeb gossip and discussion. The way they approach the intersections of work, fame, and industry politics is a must listen. I find myself nodding along to them whenever I listen, and their critical eye to the entertainment industry is unmatched. Can not recommend enough.

Pathetic
Listened to about 10 minutes of them being defensive about/excusing the Hollywood machinery that enabled Harvey Weinstein and had to stop. Also Lainey's website peddled the false blind item that Gretchen Mol slept with Weinstein for her career -- poor Ms. Mol had to come out and publicly say it's not true. Heartless and cruel.

Love it!
Excellent podcast--I love the focus on work, but it really does extend to everything Lainey and Duana that we love!

They know their stuff
These women are highly intelligent and I love that they often disagree and leave you with different perspectives. I never miss an episode. Love it!

I love Lainey and Duana! And their obsession and insights on work
This show is everything. Funny, gossipy, truthful and yes, focused on work! As a long time fan of the Lainey Gossip site, I was looking for a place to get more in depth discussion on the ever fascinating world of smart entertainment reporting. The politics of it all. From movie and television production, to how PR and marketing play a role, to how celebrities are just the cherry on top of any production and often times the least complex and most spoiled part entertainment making. Lainey and Duana clearly have so much love and respect for one another professionally, which I think makes them love each other even more personally...they remind me of my favorite colleagues and I after a long week of work and how our passion for work- and talking about it- didn't just die down bc it was the end of the day. Subscribe and listen to these very smart ladies discuss all manner of topics. Although the focus is on celebrity entertainment, you'll be amazed at how relevant and far reaching these issues are outside the entertainment industry. How they apply to life. You'll find insights you never thought you'd find on an entertainment podcast. I find myself checking in throughout the week in case they happen to post extra podcasts, that's how addicted I am, once a week isn't enough! Love you Lainey and Duana! Please keep up the amazing work and content creation!

Boring
Too much long winded pretentiousness crammed in 1 podcast

Fixing audio issues could make this a great podcast
Lainey and Duana are excellent at dissecting the celebrity specimen. Content is above par. However, the audio problems drives this podcast below par which is a shame. Omg invest in some good microphones! I realize there is nothing that can be done about the incessant Lainey shrill or Duana droning but at least a good sound engineer can make the podcast listenable. Get Jacek to fix this--I know he can. I want to continue listening to this podcast.

Wanted to love it, hopeful for tech updates
I read about this podcast all the time on LaineyGossip, and I finally gave it a try today... but I can't make it more than a minute or two in any episode because of the audio. When Duana speaks, the volume constantly goes up and down. Either it's not equalized at all, or she's shouting every other word, but I can't listen because of it. I'll keep checking back to see if the sound issues get better, because they're both really insightful writers.

Really smart gossip perspective
Super interesting conversations about celebrities, pop culture, and coverage of the gossip media.

kind of disappointment
I wanted to like this one, but I am pretty over it. They talk a lot, but say very little.
Blak750
very long winded
I find myself zoning out a lot while trying to listen. Have given them a lot of chances. I give up on this one.

Great, could be brilliant
I'm a long-time Lainey Gossip reader so this seemed like something right up my lane. I've listened to the first ten or so episodes and so far, I do enjoy listening to Lainey and Duana discuss Hollywood gossip from a smart, feminist angle, especially focusing on the work aspect of Hollywood. Sometimes their analysis borders on esoteric. At one point Duana even catches on to the fact that their endless speculation on whether or not Lady Gaga would do something political at the Super Bowl was reaching epic proportions. My only complaint is that sometimes Lainey borders on shrill in my ear when trying to make her point (while Duana keeps her cool, calm tone), and that I wish they would record the podcast AFTER a big event (like the Golden Globes or Super Bowl mentioned) instead of before since the audience listening has the benefit of knowing what actually happened by the time they listen to the podcast. It makes their discussion and theorizing a bit moot. Overall a good podcast that will likely get better as the two improve their work.

Sadly, I will only give 2 more weeks.
I want to love this podcast. I really am. But it seems unfocused and unorganized where Lainey and Duane seem to go on and on. I will give it 2 more weeks.

Some of it is interesting...
But Duana talks too long and sounds like a robot.

Where gossip can be smart, thoughtful
I love this podcast! If you really want a peek behind the scenes of money, power and guts of Hollywood, this is the podcast for you. It gives a very interesting, feminist and analytical look at what goes on behind the curtain...and make no mistake, Hollywood and gossip are big business with high stakes. Heavy on think pieces but fascinating.

Funny and interesting!
Love LaineyGossip and love y'all's podcasts! Show Your Work is very funny and interesting, and I love hearing two knowledgeable perspectives about current celebrity events.
Lapaquette
Trashy
This is your typical gossipy podcast trashing and typecasting celebrities for their roles and their personas. Not once evaluating deeper into roles, but giving fleeting observations and comparing and contrasting clearly different actors. I could barely listen 15 minutes in.
monzaffffff
Interesting but...
Interesting but Duana gives long statements/speeches/ explanations without a break. I wish it was more conversational, dynamic, and fluid between the two hosts.
Bree West
if you really want gossip this is the podcast
Serioulsy hearing the real talk on celebs between these two really demonstrates the massive amount of work that goes into a culture were everything is supposed to be "flawless". It's not flawless, it's hard work - and I love seeing how they discuss how ego, selfishness and eventually the Hollywood ecosystem become involved in this dimension. Great Great Great Great podcast!!!!!! so happy to listen to it every Monday :)
