EP 17. Welcome back to "She's Doing Alright." In this episode, Sarah talks about growing up in a sheltered household, the rules and habits of the family, and which ones she will be bringing into her own mothering journey.
-Reading aloud.
The Read Aloud Family is the book I mentioned.
-no sleep-overs
Might change with time, but definitely not under 10 and after that, not at anyone else’s house.
-Computer in the living room, no private screen time.
-Family conversations about what content we consumed mostly CDs/
3 paragraph essays were required for any CD we wanted to buy. Had to include a brief background on the artist, a breakdown of their lyrics, and how we think their music will positively impact our lives.

welcome to episode 16 of She's Doing Alright. Today I'm talking about self-respect from a new angle.
Often times, we set boundaries that we expect other people to uphold. We talk a lot about other people respecting us. But truthfully, we are often being far more disrespectful to ourselves. We take advantage of and misuse our time, we ignore our bodies asking of rest and we continue unhealthy and unhelpful habits, and we consume media without considering the valuable and creative space that its taking up in our mind. Self respect starts with us and our relationship with ourSELF.
Leave your thoughts on instagram or send me an email. I'd love to hear from you!

My baby is saying words now, the weather has been amazing, and I turned 30! I celebrated my birthday at a place that was not what I expected it to be, I took out way to many library books, and I complained heavily about the cold snap. This is February's recap of things I loved, learned, and left.

This week on "She's Doing Alright," I have special guest, my longest friend, Sydnee.
She is a mother to an 18 month old daughter, and has another baby on the way. Having worked as an education assistance, she went on to get her education in Behaviour Intervention. I love listening to how her education helps her parent.
She doesn't have any social media to plug, but she does have a beautiful perspective on life and raising kids. In this episode we talk about ta lot of things 'Motherhood', but I have so many more things I want to ask her!

Ep10. When You Don't Feel Good Enough; How To Be Enough For Yourself, Your Life, and Your Community.
Many of us struggle with "not enoughness"; not feeling good enough, smart enough, wealthy enough. Its starts from us being told our entire life what we are not. For most of my 20's, I didn't feel like I was enough. I always felt like I needed to edit myself, and fix myself. I still believe in self- improvement and growth, but I think it can be done while also knowing our worth and value. A popular question is "when is good enough, not enough?" Well, I'd say thats when its time to leave the situation. I am enough as I am. You are enough as you are.
For more reading on this topic, I would suggest "The 4 Agreements" and "The Voice of Knowledge" by Don Miguel Ruiz.
I think this topic could use more conversation, but I hope that for now you enjoy my perspective! Feel free to add yours over on the instagram page.

The idea of lucky girl syndrome is being talked about all over the internet right now; maybe you've even had it brought up in your friend circles. Well, it fits perfectly with something I've believed for a long time: we can hack the algorithm of life and get everything we dream of.
Lucky Girl Syndrome is the mindset that everything works out in their favour, and that good things are always happening for them. They start saying things like "Rejection is simply redirection." and "It's okay that I didn't get that job because I know an even better one is meant for me." The vibe is unbothered.
I do love this mindset shift, and I love trends like this because they help shift the collective energy into a more positive place. This is how we hack the algorithm of life. in every thought, interaction, and habit, we are telling it, "I like this, I want more of this, keep showing me this."
From a young age we have been programmed to look for certain things. All of these are programs built into our systems by our parents and their lives and experiences, and their parents' lives and experiences, generations back. we get to change the cycle by taking action and changing our mindset.
The actions turn into our mindset which turn into our perspective.
I hope you enjoy this episode of "She's Doing Alright."
