This week, Shea had a chat with Bill Schwartz. Bill has been training gi and no gi jiu Jitsu for the past 17+ years. He has a strong emphasis on technique and strives to instill the value behind acquiring a complete game. With a strong background in teaching and working with a wide spectrum of students, Bill offers a unique approach to instruction that includes all levels of experience, body type, and ability. The goal is to run an inclusive and complete program that is accessible to all members of the community.
One of Bill's guiding principles is that money or physical ability should not be limiting factors for anyone who wants to learn and practice martial arts. Bill Schwartz grew up in Oneonta, NY, and played most sports. As a life long martial artist, the interest in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu arrived in America before the opportunity to learn it. It wasn't until college that he was able to find an instructor, and his path began with Victor Mcleod in 2003. Bill received his black belt from Julio Ceaser Fernandez Nunes and Rodrigo Medeiros while at a camp in Rio De Janeiro, Brazil, in 2016. Bill has a strong interest in exotic carnivorous plants, which provides an opportunity to travel and train martial arts across the world. He welcomes all levels of experience from casual first-timer to professional fighter.
