Women in the military have unique experiences. Women represent 16% of the enlisted forces and 19% of the officer corps. Women’s service members have many different roles that they juggle as mothers, wives, caregivers, and warriors at the same time.
The Department of Defense has increased its female recruitment. It is unfortunate that the sacrifices of women service members are not always recognized and acknowledged.
Women in the military strengthen the roles of women in our society. Women are innovative, resilient, and are leaders. I am a woman and I proudly serve the U.S. Air Force.
